No Booney review from the weekend's match - does this mean he wasn't pleased with what he saw?

Marsh Series mate, not worthy of a review, didn't do one for Brisbane game either.

I have liked the loading up of good ball users across half back / midfield, Hartlett, Burton, Bonner, DBJ, Amon, Rozee, Duursma, Houston, all running through the midfield and half back has seen us transition the ball much better from half back to the F50, that's why Dixon has had 12 shots on goal in 2 games. 98 points one game, 95 the next, good signs for the ball movement against two good sides in the Lions and Dogs. We all know they aren't all going 100% but I don't suspect we have been either.

SPP's move forward has created some genuine pressure in our F50, the likes of Gray, Rozee, Marshall etc, that's not their forte, sure they apply some pressure but nothing like SPP does, this also allows him to be more explosive in the middle when he does go in there, perhaps we won't see so many munged fatigued kicks from him as we did.

Interesting view down back, looks like McKenzie is going to play ahead of Lienert and up front Ebert looks to be on the outer as Georgiades and Marshall look set to be the other targets forward.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

Lienert a chance to play higher up the ground - wing/HFF?

Don't think Georgiades will make the 22 for round 1.. he's looks an exciting prospect, and athletic, but not sure he has had enough impact in the two practise matches so far.

Time for Port to move on from Dixon? Out of contract, rising 30yo, of his last 29 games has kicked 3+ goals only 5 times (generally against bottom 8 teams)

The single most over hyped KPP that's ever played the game.

Not thinking short term as a Dixon replacement as such, but do you think Ladhams has any potential to make it as a forward? I was pretty impressed with both his mobility and ability last season and he's getting to a pretty good size these days.

A tad harsh IMO, I think he still has plenty to offer, he has good records against the Bulldogs' and the Eagles goal-wise and racks up decent numbers for a full forward.

I would like to see him stay at home a bit more and give us someone to kick to instead of him wasting petrol up the ground and then trying to make a contest for a grab when he's out of position to do so to begin with.

I think he's going to have a decent year in 2020.

Dutchy hates Port, so much so he's not going to state during those 29 games he played 9 last year coming back from a snapped leg and the year before when he played 20 (before the broken leg) spent the majority of the year rucking when Ryder was out of the side.

Possibly, I think he's a ruck/fwd more so than fwd/ruck, time will tell. Sam Hayes at SANFL level looks more naturally fwd/ruck, I'm picking him as the one to watch at SANFL level this year.

Port are well known to have cap space, with Gray, Boak, Westhoff and Dixon in their last 2 or 3 seasons they'd be year by year deals on much lower coin than previously, the likes of Rozee and co will no doubt command more money on longer deals, but I expect us to be a player in the FA market in the next 2 years.

Yes, Jenkins has played more games than Dixon.

Interesting comparison, how much better would we have been over the last 5 years if Dixon wasn't alone in the key post forward of the ball, how much worse would we have been without him?

Anything different than banging it deep onto Charlies head IMO. I doubt Kenny will change anything, but I wonder if a new coach was coming in this season what they would be doing to shape the FWD line for 2021 and beyond.

Marshall's time has come so I would be giving him more responsibility, got rid of Frampton and a part from Buzza there doesn't seem to be too many more options in the current squad. I suspect Ladhams/Lycett will be given more time forward, and it always looks good on the magnet board to have a ruck deep forward, but its folly to be relying on them having 25+ seasons.

Your back 6 and mids look sound, hence my questioning on the Forwards.

So is it Dixon or the game style that we need to move on? You're hedging your bets here.

We won't be playing Lycett and Ladhams, not in my view.

You were no worse (or better) without him during the games he missed.

Dixon isn't a natural leading forward so I can see why the game plan is to try to put it on its head. What would a new coach do? Would certainly change the game style and that wouldn't include Dixon IMO.

Jenkins did play some decent footy before he went to the farm.
