Idiotic comment. Why would a club that was founded over 100 years ago as one of the first SACA clubs be forced to move into a second rate competition?

Not as silly as it sounds to keep that 100 years of history and their own identity.

Easy to say that when people aren't members and life members of a club that has existed for over 100 years. People have put blood, sweat and tears into West Torrens and those with the most to say about merging or moving across to some scrubber competition, have no involvement with the club. Imagine if it was your club and people were trying to make you extinct or merge. Bet you would not be as chipper about others trying to move your club on.

Adelaide turf is far from a scrubber competition and a lot of terrific blokes that have done the same by putting blood, sweat and tears in to their clubs are in Adelaide Turf so no need to be so degrading. My club the club I grew up at watching my dad is no longer around and hasn't been for some time, they tried a merge and it didn't work so maybe if they chosen a "lesser" comp they may have survived.

5 million!!!!! If that happened you may as well engrave the A1 shield before the season even started. Its hard enough competing with the clubs with massive war chests of money now.

The money being offered by SACA is an incentive to merge isn't it. How could West Torrens take the money and join ATCA?

And the money for that purpose is nowhere near $5 million....

Against anyone else except TTG, you would think they would win. Think Southerns batting has been brittle a lot of the season, they often struggled to make 200, and fell short chasing 150 a couple of times.
They rely on Barrett a lot, he will have to just about get a century for them to win. Hope they can get up, would be an amazing turn around from last few years.

Agreed The lot need to bat around Barrett. Get him and they could collapse under pressure.
WTF went on up at Pertaringa? Uni all out 132 and TTG 7/76 chasing

Could TTG lose all three of their GF's? Who is the "Head" in D grade, relation to Travis? Took 6 for today!

Massive choke by Gullies to lose all 3. Was at the B and D grades between the two grounds up at Gullies. Then the result came though of the A grade getting rolled by Southerns. Could of heard a pin drop in the club rooms. The rumour getting stronger and stronger that West Torrens will merge with Woodville in 2017/2018. What a bloody disgrace that a great club like WT should not be in existence in their own right.
It's going to be great seeing Woodville's faces when the only reason they want this merger, Kelvin Smith, heads straight down to the bay.
Also will be interesting to see what happens with the guys who are obviously not good enough, players like Williams and O'Dwyer from WT and then Peters and Thoman from the Peckers, just to name a few. Port and Uni could see a real strengthening of their stocks from all of it IMO.
