Haven't seen this thread for a while. Not a bad one to bump.
Read Down Under yonks ago, didn't think much of it. Spent too much time getting between the main towns and doing bugger-all when he got to each one. Very much a waste, given the treatment he could have given our capital cities with his sense of humour. Neither Here Nor There was better Bryson; he actually did interesting stuff in the places he visited. (That was Europe, BTW)
Currently on Neil Gaiman's "Smoke and Mirrors" myself. A collection of short stories, passed on to me from a bloke at work. Better than expected thus far.

Am also nearing the end of a Game Theory textbook. It is written from a social science perspective, so the theory is used to form analogies with social behaviour, which is interesting. Unfortunately I've found about 7 errors in the mathematics presented in the book, which is annoying.
Next book is likely to be an Ian Rankin title, i.e. Inspector Rebus.
Game theory eeerghh! I thought it would be fun i.e. talking about Double Dragon. It wasn't. Dealt with it a bit in contract theory. For example why people should/shouldn't behave in long term contracts, prisoner's dilemma. It all sucks balls, assumes people act rationally for their own self interest.

I totally agree on that. His visit to Adelaide was very disappointing - in terms of how little he actually wrote about it.
I'm reading the part where he's in Kellyland, Victoria.

I was reading that and enjoying it until I got to page 326, it then jumped to about page 380, missing 60 odd pages
contacted the publisher and received a new copy the other day, now need to finish it
