I stayed at Kata on the beach last year, just booked in for another 11 nights in Phuket in Januaray.
Not cheap as taking the kids and doing it in style this time (no Jetstar and only 5 star acom this time and January isn't cheap).
Staying up near the airport for first 7 nights at Indigo Pearl and then last 4 nights at Moevenpick on Karon Beach.
Will even have my own personal photographer this trip so I can just spend it all drinking (my daughter).
Can't wait!

Thought I'd chuck up some photos from Laos...

Somewhere up near the Chinese border, near Muang Sing. Cracking mountain scenery up this way.

Had a great time away. Could have done longer than 5 nights, only had 1 day in Siem Reap and the rest in Phnom Penh. Food was good, weather hot, beer cheap and cold, locals very friendly. Some of the most intense traffic I have encountered.

Where's Khao Lak?

We've got flights booked to Vietnam and Thailand for late September.
We'll be in Hanoi for AFL GF, which will be interesting.
We'll be staying with my b-i-l, so I reckon we'll be sorted for touristy stuff there.

However, we've got five nights booked in Bangkok on the way home.
Looking for reasonably cheap accomodation - with two kids.
Any thoughts on that, guys? Best places? What to look out for?
Part of my trip will also include a trip to an orphanage in the northern part of Thailand, really looking forward to that.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

I would go back just to stay in Lamphu House. So friendly and pretty clean. A bit backpacker-ish, but there's spartan shared rooms to self contained rooms with A/C.

Endless Temples to wander and so much street food to eat. Trains, ferries, tuk tuks will take you anywhere you want to go. Jump on and get ridiculously lost.

Fly to Phuket then about an hour and a half up the west coast. This place is gold, it is what you want to make it. Cover band playing Africa.

Quietly getting pumped about our trip.
Apart from when the Pies were playing in one, I've never been counting down to the AFL GF so enthusiastically.

Nah, we fly out at 9:30 Saturday morning, I'll just get away from work early on the Friday.
