Averaged 45 since moving to SA though. And double ton just before the end of the season

Has been a great player for SA and an average of 45 is fantastic but I think the last 2 years are a truer reflection of where he is at. At his age he isnt on an upward spiral thats for sure. As May-Z said if it comes down to keeping Head and adding Cossie its a no brainer

Yeah fair points lads, if you only had to keep two of head Cossie and klinger then he goes.

Smith and head really need to stand up and become significant contributors in their own right next year though. Both showed glimpses, particularly head, but he will need to convert his starts

yep, that is the compromise - i would rather watch klinger play well for 2 seasons against us then watch head do for it 10

overall klinger has been a fantastic signing for sa/adelaide so i hope he goes well for another couple of years

would just hate for it to be another ryan harris scenario - seems like players seem to thrive after leaving SA a lot more than the players who come here (Hughes the possible exception)

Couple of other interstaters to do quite well here over the past few years have been Mennie and Lawton. Zampa will also improve, only really played at Adelaide Oval where it was a piece of cement.

Dan Christian didn't play internationals before playing for us, he only played a couple of domestic one day games for New South Wales before joining us

I reckon cossie played all his internationals before leaving us.

I reckon cossie played all his internationals before leaving us.

I meant Christian moving from here to Victoria

And Cossie is clearly a better player now than when he left.

Based on Klinger's own reasoning it's a weak and pathetic decision on his behalf. If he's so sure he's a walk up start every game then his position is not going to be questioned. Does he want the SA selectors to now wish they'd just lied to him? If it was about money or anything else, then I'd respect it a lot more but to say on one hand he's 100% he's good enough then on the other say it's because he wasn't guaranteed a spot every game is nonsense.

Was a very good player for SA, not at his best last year, and will leave a hole/opportunity behind. Still, it all looks upward next year to me on the whole.

not really a weak decision. He gets job security for the next few seasons when he only had 12 months left here.

No Sir, it was a perfectly reasonable decision and one that anyone with half a brain would have taken.

2 blokes that fail the basic reading and comprehension test. Money, contract length, job security, no problem "If it was about money or anything else, then I'd respect it a lot more" was what I said, but Klinger said it wasn't anything to do with the money, it was about selection in the team despite his absolute certainty he was good enough.

Max Klinger Leaves For WA

Are you Forrest Gump?

LOL, he was told he wasn't in the best 11, so regardless of what he thinks he won't get a regular game as the selectors had already made up their minds.

It's taken me some time, but the more I think about it, the more I think SA are in a good enough state without Klinger.

He has maybe one or two seasons left, we have got Cossie back who has plenty of cricket left and young guns like Head, Raphael and Smith coming through, supported by Ferguson, Cooper & Hughes..

The future looks bright for SA.

It is a little amusing though that plenty of people on the site whinge and bitch about the Redbacks being chockers full of interstate players, but when one moves on because his position is going to likely be occupied by a home grown talent you all get emotional

Whatever happened to Jake Brown. He looked promising late the previous season, but isn't even mentioned anymore?

Had his fingers smashed in the Pre-season in Darwin. Never got a look in once he recovered.

Jake Lehman is the new flavour of the month. Needs to back up a solid season at club and 2nd XI levels again to have any shot.
