Disagree, far better with two roundabouts than onededja wrote:I reckon introducing the 2nd roundabout the way they have causes more issues that it intended to solve.
Like you, I can manage it, but there are enough numpties around who can’t, together with the dicks that get their elbows out to do nothing other than increase risk.
Then again, if the Parisians can manage the Arc de Triomphe roundabout with 12 roads intersecting, no traffic management, nor lines or anything, then we need to look at ourselves.

Can you remember how long it took for them to build the underpass at South Rd/Anzac Hwy? Can only imagine it would take even longer at Britannia, given the 500 race, etc...amber_fluid wrote:How hard is it to build a tunnel under there like they do in every other city in Australia

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts
I have cause to travel North-South through the Brittania roundabout once or twice a week. With the old single roundabout, N-S travel was never a problem. It was the two roads on the western side which had issues.
With the change to dual roundabouts the problems on the city-side roads might have been ameliorated - but the North->South travel has been made a mite more difficult. One has to watch oncoming traffic with a broader field of view. Not a huge difficulty, but certainly more so than it was before.
And as for the roundabout around the Arc de Triomphe ... I believe that the rule is that traffic entering that roundabout has right of way - and also that a typical insurance policy is null and void for accidents occurring there. I reckon that says it all.

Too much roadworks, not enough roadworks, I take 2 minutes longer to get to my destination. FFS!

People whined because the old diesel trains were too loud/polluted too much. Then whined there were no trains because the lines were being electrified.

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts
I have been working at my company for 22 years.
My commute is from south (around Westfield Marion) to around Churchill Road.
When I started in 2003, it took me 20 minutes to get to work and 30 minutes to get home. In 2025, after all the roadworks on South road and Marion road, that is now at 35 minutes there, and 45 minutes home. Same route.

Re: Things that give you the sh1ts
Whilst we’re on the topic of whingeing, special mention the those responsible for the Stradbroke Rd ‘upgrade’ between Gorge Rd and Montacute Rd the last few months.
Firstly, for the time taken to redo the curbs in both sides of the road, starting from the Gorge Rd and ending at the Montacute Rd end.
Secondly, by then reversing the mayhem by resurfacing the road in the opposite direction.
Thirdly, by doing such a shit job of resurfacing the road that it looks like the work of 5 year olds.
Fourthly, by imposing a 40km/hr speed limit on a poorly resurfaced road with no line markings, for weeks and weeks on end.
Fifthly, by giving us some hope that line marking is going to happen by ‘tracing’ where the lines will be, but leaving it like that for weeks.
Sixthly, for the unforeseen circumstance of a major water burst which created a large crater in the substandard recently (now many, many weeks ago) resurfaced road, which was patched with a mound of gravel that created a further hazard.
Seventhly, for taking more than a week to turn the gravel trap into bitumen, expertly crafted to look nothing like the rest of the rest of the road.
The eighth instalment is yet to play out, but about 3 months already sunk from the first seven, and the speed limit is still 40km/hr.
To all responsible, congrats on a job well done, keep up the great work.

Geographically we're hamstrung, hills to the east, coast to the west and we didn't do enough from 2000 to today to future proof many of our major infrastructure works but then again in 2000 we were still thanking Tim Marcus Clark for his State Bank efforts....then manufacturing died.amber_fluid wrote:I work from home so don’t give a **** about commuting
