Look like pretty fair guesses JJ. According to Simmo Willunga never win at Creek but your insight on creeks side says otherwise today.

Creek and Willinga have an amazing rivalry over the last 20 - 25 years with an incredible amount of cliffhanger games.field of dreams wrote:Look like pretty fair guesses JJ. According to Simmo Willunga never win at Creek but your insight on creeks side says otherwise today.

Fair to say the Creeks do have a VERY good record against Willunga at the Creek.
I've been surprised by how well the Creeks have done all season and they've often proven me wrong.
Willunga should've beaten the Creeks earlier in the season but were very wasteful around goals to allow the Creeks to steal the win.
This time around the Creeks are significantly weaker than they were then on paper so Willunga just should win.
I have no idea of the Willunga line up and you know what they say about the only thing paper is good for.
Now i just sit back and wait to be proven i have NFI what i'm on about again

You must have sfi lol.
All I can say about the VH v Compass game is it’s hard to work out how Compass beat Bays.

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Re: Great Southern Football League
Was all VH early. They looked sharp and should have been 6-3 or 7-2 at quarter time with the easy ones they missed. Pongy fought back well and controlled the second half.am Bays wrote:No SOP* for Victorgoddy11 wrote:Good win to the Pongy boys.

Overall was key early and losing him before quarter time hurt more than no Gibbs.

Re: Great Southern Football League
Rd 17
Yank host Strath - Disappointing season for both teams. Toss of the coin here, Strath by 15 points but could easily go the other way.
Bays host McLaren - McLaren are pretty much locked into the double chance whilst the Bays are destined for the Elim final unless they win their last 2 matches. If they can get over McLaren here they would then play The Mudlarks next week for the Double Chance. A Big task that i think is beyond them.
McLaren by 22 points
GPE host the Mudlarks. GPE have been a lot more competitive in the 2nd half of the season but this will be no more than a training drill for the Mudlarks who'll win by 128 points
Creeks host Victor - Creeks are coming off 3 losses on the trot and nothing will change in the next few weeks as they play the 2 top sides. Victor havent been travelling that smoothly of late but will have little trouble with an injury ravaged Creek team who already have their eye on the Elimination Final which they locked up a month ago. Victor just need to dot the i's and cross the t's the next 2 weeks to secure top spot and have a week off.
Victor by anything from 30 - 120 depending on what team they turn up with
Compass host Willunga. Both teams have had terrible seasons being out of finals contention before the halfway mark of the season after both playing finals last year. No idea with this one in a result that matters little.
Can anyone confirm that Pinyon, Jones and Hicks were all suspended from their rd 15 clash with McLaren ? They all missed the Creek Game. Heard they all got suspended but nfi how many games ? If they're back i guess that'd improve their chances.

Re: Great Southern Football League
Not sure on the suspension lengths.
Hicks was red carded after swinging at Ellis. I heard McLaren used footage (including a drone) to get Pinyon reported and got 4. Dunno about Jones. They’ve got a fair reputation for being dirty.
Vh are missing a few too but should still get win.

Re: Great Southern Football League
The final minor round games…
Willunga to defeat goolwa and hold on to 6th on percentage.
Strath to defeat compass and finish 7th and 8th.
Victor over yank to remain 1st and 9th.
McLaren over Creek and stay 2nd and 5th.
In the only game with any real impact on the ladder Pongy should be too good for Bays to keep their 3rd spot.
Lots made of creeks injury woes (warranted). Much said of Bays win over McLaren…. Yet did anyone notice McLaren were missing L Mathews, Mitton, B Chahla, Smith, Merrett, Venning, McMahon!

Good win by the Bays to defeat Pongy at Pongy by 5 points and snatch third spot from them. Kicked 6 goals to 3 in the last quarter.

Hard to fathom Pongy could let that slip, but credit where it’s due- bays have some great form as the finals commence.DoublebluTiger wrote:Good win by the Bays to defeat Pongy at Pongy by 5 points and snatch third spot from them. Kicked 6 goals to 3 in the last quarter.

Re: Great Southern Football League
Sunday’s Elimination Final. Even if some of Creek’s injuries return to the field Pongy should still be too good.
Today’s Qualifying Final. Bays will have a fair degree of confidence after defeating McLaren and Pongy the last 2 weeks. They will face a different looking McLaren side this time though who should get the win.

Re: Great Southern Football League
McLaren easily accounted for the Bays today by handling the windy conditions a lot better. Game was over at half timefield of dreams wrote:Sunday’s Elimination Final. Even if some of Creek’s injuries return to the field Pongy should still be too good.

McLaren 9 - 1 to a goalless Bay side on 0 - 11
Bays saved face a little in the last term posting a few goals that concluded a tough day for them after their B Grade only kicked the 1 goal
Final Score McLaren 15 - 4 Bays 4 - 12
Myponga /Sellicks shouldn't have much trouble with the Creeks Sunday at Victor in the Elimination Final.
Creeks last win was against Yank in Rd 13 and have since lost 5 on the trot as they've been smashed by injuries in their A and B Grade.
Their 2 matches against the Mudlarks this year have actually both been close with the Creeks with an upset 7 point win in Rd 6 and then went down by 18 points at Myponga in Rd 15.
Word is the Hawks will have a fair influx of players returning for this clash tho there simply has to be question marks over many of them as they simply arnt match fit for a final but they have no choice but to roll the dice. Losing Cole and Clifford for the season really has culled their chances of making any inroads into the finals. Will be interesting if they stick with senior colt McKenzie in Ruck with few other options after back up ruckman Tyler Follett suffered a season ending injury a month ago.
Tip - Mudlarks by 46 but who knows with the wind blowing the way it is , strange results can sometimes be thrown up

Actually, the game was very even up to 2/3 of the way through the 3rd quarter
Pongy kicked 5.5 to 0.0 in the last quarter to register the big win
