Re: Rumour re Media Coverage
Does the commentary team still get paid even though no-one could watch or listen all day?

Re: Rumour re Media Coverage
SANFL hit a new low this weekend, for a league that relies solely on its app for coverage/scores/vision, having it not work for the entire game is completely unacceptable, .

Maybe they've given up on the league like the supporters

It's easy to get the impression those in control of promoting, growing and ensuring the league is the best it can be, are actually sabotaging it. It appears it wouldn't be hard to do a better job.

They did back in 2013, and this just adds the portfolio of evidence...

Not quite 100% true.
Totally agree it was not a good look, at all.
But the SANFL regularly tweet sore updates from all games.
And for those who have one, people would have also been able to view the game on their Digital Pass by logging in via a browser.
I was able to be logged in fine during the West v Port game at Alberton.

Re: Rumour re Media Coverage
Couldn't get anything for the West v Port game.Had to ring a mate there to get updates. Shit house SANFL.

SANFL tweeted the scores at the end of each quarter, this is what I was relying on, hardly regular considering the situation.
I guess if we carried our laptop (if you have one) around and paid a season pass for each of the 8 clubs we would have been fine?
Do you have a season pass to access West v Port? Or do you sign up with every club?

Absolutely 100% correct.

"Regularly tweet score updates". No offence Phil but I think I would have let Dutchys post go though to the keeper if that was my only shot. FFS. the SANFL promotes itself as the 2nd best league in Australia after the AFL and the best they can come up with is to offer "regularly tweet sore updates". The powers that be over at the AFL must be quaking in their boots at the digital and social media threat SANFL is too them. All we need now is some actual coverage.
Not having a go at you Phil, just the ludicrousness of those empowered to steer the SANFL ship into the future. Dogger's offspring Dogger_2 has got it right, it does make you wonder what the true agenda is.

Sounds like another way to tell the fans to stick it up their arse, which the league have been doing a reasonably good job of in recent times.

That has nothing to do with it, nothing at all. The SANFL isn't trying to compete with the AFL in anyway whatsoever.
What is a problem is the SANFL decided in their wisdom to move to the digital platform for the broadcast of games and it's been a monotonously regular occurrence that the platform has failed to deliver. Not only has the free audio stream failed on more than one occasion but the app and the paid up digital pass hasn't been 100% reliable.
People with limited technology at their disposal or with limited technological expertise are pretty much blocked out of the SANFL every weekend other than the C7 broadcast match, which there hasn't even been on some weekends as the SANFL also decided to have split rounds where some weekends there may only be 2 or 3 matches.
One thing for sure, the SANFuL isn't helping itself.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.
If you want to go far, go together.

Re: Rumour re Media Coverage
Quite simply the SANFL isn't accessible to fans/supporters or those that have a passing interest anymore.

Stopped using twitter about 4 years ago, about as useful if they sent up smoke signals.
