Comes down to Cummins, Sayers, Bird for the 3 bowling spot
Cummins is 'the future', in good form and arguably the world best number 9 bat (his batting probably gets him across the line based on the evenings of the other attributes.
Bird is in reasonable form as well took 6 wickets in the first shield game and 3/41 in the first innings of the second shield game, has a test bowling average of 27 and was arguably and took 6 wickets at the GABBA test last year.
In saying that I would almost take a risk and go
Warner
Renshaw
Khawaja
Smith
Handscombe (wk)
Maxwell
Starc
Cummins
Hazelwood
Lyon
Sayers
Please dont ever EVER EVER downplay the role of the wicket keeper by advocating having a part timer keep wickets for Australia, especially a batsman who is yet to establish himself in the test side.
We need runs to bowl at so we need six batters then a keeper and four bowlers.
If we cant get 20 wicket a test with Starc, Hazelwood and Cummins, then there is something wrong.
If we are worried about back to back test matches and bowlers workload we are fortunate that a back up bowling line up of Bird, Coulter-Nile and Sayers is test quality so we can rotate in and out of test matches if necessary.
Feck me, Bherendorf, Tremain and even Abbott could play and it would be better than most test attacks.
One of Wade, Neville or Carey, probably Neville, has to play.

Speaking of the NSW team, I find it unfathomable that the leading run-scorer for the Shield last year doesn't get a game, especially behind spuds like Maddinson.
