Re: whatever happened to
Whatever happened to Stereo AM that was advertised in the early 80s to rival FM? I can remember some special radios had to be bought to enjoy it and 5KA might have been one of the first to broadcast in it?

The ABC used to show that in the same era as it used to show SUPER GRAN and METAL MICKEY

The top 20 (or 40) each night with Scott McBain ( I think Greg Clarke did it for a while as well)
Also liked watching the music show , was it Music express? the one with Grant Cameron?

Grant Cameron did a music show on Sunday afternoon's on Ch10. About 5pm before Countdown
There was also a Saturday afternoon music show on Ch7 show that ran for 2 hours that had Greg Clarke and Di Stapleton(?) comparing
I thought the Sat show was called "Music Express" and Grant Cameron's Sunday show was called something else? The Sat show was my second favourite music show, Countdown being my must-see-TV of the week!
They were the days before Sat morning video clips
In between signatures .....

Re: whatever happened to
I remember the day they swapped to deciMAL currency
Rowley Park Speedway which is now units on Torrens Road.
City Baths swimming pool where Festival theatre complx is now.
And that music TV show hosted by Ross D Wylie[the name ???]
Video Village on channell 7
I remember watching Homicide on C7
And yes I wuz one of those kids who would collect for Telethon
We would knock on doors and get people to put $$$ in the Telethon tins
We would ride our pushbikes from the Woodville area to North Adelaide collecting
Then we would roll up and be seen on TV handing over the loot
Your mates would see you and ring you up that day/night
They didnt have videos back then and it was black and white TV
As Mary Hopkins once sang THOSE WERE THE DAYS

Re: whatever happened to
The guys who would sell the News in the afternoon at stobie pole locations. You would be driving along and up ahead you'd see the familiar sight of the News Masthead in a rack about 8ft up a stobie pole with that afternoon's headline. At the bottom of the pole was someone selling the paper - usually waving it (folded) in and out as if he was marching on the spot and swinging one arm. You'd then pull over, buy the paper, pay your money and return to your journey home. There was always one just opposite the entrance the Centennial Park....speaking of which
Drive-in Theatres! Remember the one at Pasadena - after they sold it they shot a fil on the land adjacent - a mock plane crash that stacks of people went to see 'explode' for the film. Did anyone go to that and does anyone remember the name of the film?

Your time is a little out, Squawk - I remember the mock plane crash well, we went up to see it, but this was around 1980. Someone wrote in to "Whats Your Problem" a few months ago about this same topic, but cannot remember the name of the movie for the life of me. The Drive-In closed a fair few years after this though. The park you're referring to is still there, its just next to the concrete embankment, driving out of the city down south.
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...
