Without knowing the details is does sound fair....the other option is to not abuse the umpire in a way that would have him report you and have the book thrown at you once your infront of the tribunal. With that done it becomes very important for him to keep himself clean from this point forward otherwise he is going to have to take a bit of a drive if he wants to play footy on Saturdays.
Seriously though im not sure what you could say to an umpire that would deserve a 10 match ban short of a threat of physical violence?
at the time was an 18 year old playing senior footy and had neve been reported. i wasnt there at the time but from all reports by people that were there said it was ludacris that he got 10 games for it. all it takes is him being put in the sittuation were he has to protect himself and umpires have been throwing red cards around willy nilly of late then we all no what the tribunral system is like in the amatuers iand simple as that cant play with his mates anymore, i know its hard to find a way around it but it just seems stiff in some cases. and by no stretch am i defending his actions with the abuse of an umpire
For what its worth, my mother was actually one of the first female club presidents in South Australian football, when she took over the role at Callington Eagles (Hills Footy League - back when they were more competitive) in the late 1990's to early 2000's....
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

Spot on FC. From 1999 to 2001. Took about 5 seconds to check their website. Not knocking Cheryl from Flinders Uni at all - I reckon it's great that she's Pres, but if Porter was going to run a lead article, you think you would spend a bit of time researching just in case your claims are totally unfounded.

That incident still makes me laugh - and it wasn't us that complained - it was the Portland supporters sleeping off the Woodstock & Colas under the tree that got upset
The incident just adds to the legend of 2008 IMO...

Only as good as your last game - in your case, acting as a decoy....
Apparently a player was found guilty (allegedly kneed a bloke in the face off the ball) and only got 3 weeks. If he's guilty he should get 10, if he isn't guilty why has he got any?
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!
Probably pulled the old under privledged and <edited by mods, very inappropriate> You get worse for calling an umpire a cheat
an u/18 lad from our club got a game for calling an umpire a F*n cheat on the weekend. if i got reported everytime i have said that i would be banned from the amatuer league, i dont condone this behaviour, but is the umpire being a touch precious fair enough the 25m penelty or even a yellow card but to get next week off seems a touch over the top

I think you will find that is now "par for the course" toward umpires and to be honest, I don't reckon it's too bad. You can't walk up to someone in the street and call him a "thief" without proof or your in court, why should this be any different? Respect has gone missing, bring some back! BTW, if you don't condone it, why are you guilty of doing it?
