GLENN MAXWELL
This is what the BIG show had to say about his batting in the 2nd Test v Pakistan

" They back me to play that reverse sweep no matter what the situation of the game.
They understand for me that its no different from a cover drive for any other batter.
They have instilled confidence in me to play that shot and they have seen it come off time and again.
They accept the fact for me its a norMAL shot , its no different from someone else getting beaten in defence
My best form of defence is attack , so they would much rather me go out playing my natural game than defending and getting caught bat pad."

DAVE EDWARDS
Excuse thats probably the most arrogant thing Ive ever read, and Ive read the Latham diaries
The reverse sweep is not like a cover drive
Its a trick shot employed by kids in the backyard ....
...I dont want to go into too much detail , but Maxwell is just another Gen Y dickhead who will come and go

Who is right Dave Edwards Glenn Maxwell ?
Will Glenn Maxwell play Test cricket again?
Is Glenn Maxwell good enough to play Test Cricket ?

While Glenn Maxwell plays like Glenn Maxwell, no, he's not a test cricketer.

If Glenn Maxwell decides to change his approach to make a fist of a baggy green career, he has the talent to do so.

Some more Edwards v Maxwell

THE BIG SHOW
[On his 2nd innings dig v Pakistan]
"On a 4th and 5th day wicket you need to put pressure on the bowlers and get rid of those bat pads.
My plan was to try and get rid off those guys as early as possible in my innings and hopefully get into my innings and make it easier to get singles and manipulate the field.
unfortunately it didnt quite come off."

DAVE EDWARDS
[the response]
" No shit it didnt come off.
Jesus , youre employing the " hit them out of the attack" philosophy.
Really.
F..k me youre a basic human being."

Wow Mr Edwards no holding back !
And a final Edward quote
" Society is f...d, sure. But please, lets take a little bit better care of our cricket team."

The way I see it, a wanker becomes less of a wanker when he is bagging another wanker, and I agree with what he says about Maxwell

World Cup
There is a lot of heat on Glenn Maxwell after failing in the ODI series v South Africa , despite his good late order batting prior to this series
Batting spots will be more than interesting if Michael Clarke is fit to play
Who makes way ?

MAXWELL
35 innings
891 runs
29.70 average
120.40 strike rate

WARNER
49 innings
1539 runs
31.40 ave
83.50 strike rate

Ive used David Warner as a comparism to Glenn Maxwell
If Glen Maxwell is considered a liability, what does that make David Warner ?

As for Glenn Maxwell , I would select him
His off spinning is improving
His fielding is brilliant
He has a sensational strike rate
He is a very good late order hitter , one of the very best in world cricket at that
What he does with the bat might end up winning or losing a World Cup for Australia

Dont compare Warner to Maxwell MAL.
Maxwell wouldnt last an over opening the bat. Warner is 10 times the cricketer Maxwell will ever be

Could Warner average 29.7 with a strike rate of 120 batting in the late order ?

Or more to the point
How many batsmen in ODI history have made close to 1000 runs with a strike rate of 120+[and average about 30]
What more can you expect for guys batting 6-7-8 ?

To knock singles when required and show the mental fortitude to build an innings when required.

He could have has 25 off 35 tonight but decided to charge and play a stupid shot.

What if it was him to walk out at 5/80 odd Friday night instead of wade. Would we have won?

I think because of his spinning he will stay in the team, and he has bowled pretty well in the last few games, but is there anything more frustrating than someone who has the talent to do so much better?

Will Josh struggle in Domestic cricket ?
If so, how will he go in
Sheffield Shield
One Dayers
20/20
He is young enough , and good enough , to be a very good bowler for NSW in all forms , from here on

Cant see him playing Test Cricket in his current form
Would need to improve a fair bit

Has the potential to play more ODI games
Has played 2 ODI games
1/41[7] v England 2010 as a 19 year old
0/6[2] in a rain interrupted game in England 2013

Squids on the ball
Predicted Hazelwood last January

QUESTION
Who will play more tests from now on
Siddle or Hazelwood ?

Maxwell only plays if he is our best spin option and if he does he bats 8. I dont have a problem with him in that scenario. If he bats 6 we are in trouble
