Why do you think its sports science vs natural ability? Those two things go hand in hand. You reckon Lockett would have been a better player if he was actually fit?

(Game style is a different beast entirely. That’s coaching not sports science)

Akram had longievity as he had a fluent easy non-stressful action without a large run up.

No, I think Lockett would've just been another run of the mill player if he had of been fit, his bulk is what helped him to 1360 career goals, he was 191cm so he would've been toweled as a tall forward IMO.

Sports science suggests that a player leave the field after kicking a goal, I think it's nonsense when you look at the Carey's and Ablett's of the game.

I'm pretty sure you and I had this debate a while back and you suggested the sports scientists advised of the tactic.

I was talking about presses etc when I said about coaching.

Are you really suggesting that all sports science is rubbish because of the Policy or running off the ground after a goal?

I don’t have the stats to back me up but i suspect that it isn’t actually a rule - they would all have rough rotation plans to stick to regardless if they score - but you only notice it when the are the said player that kicks a goal not all the other times when they don’t come off the field

Of course I'm not implying that all sports science is rubbish, I just find that policy absurd.

100% of the time when a player leaves the ground after slotting one through he doesn't kick the next goal within 2 minutes, I wouldn't mess with a Dangerfield, Ablett or a Dusty resting in the pocket, could be a pivotal few minutes from there.

I'm happy to agree to disagree with you on this one.

Players who kick a goal should be the last to come off the ground regardless of sports science/rotations

Do we actually know whether they come off more than any other player though?

Need to find out somehow

I have heard a couple of theories, one was based on the game being a team game so they needed to spread the adrenalin around opposed to one player being super pumped.

Found this one though which makes some sense to it,I can probably understand an onballer kicking a goal and seizing the opportunity, but doesn't make much sense for a forward.

Haven't watched the video, but have thought perhaps when an on-baller or wingman comes off after kicking a goal it is the result of a set play where that player is the chosen one to run hard or put in extra effort in that particular instance and because they kick the goal and come off it is noticeable.

As for a forward, especially a key forward it is rubbish IMO. Another quick goal and the defender can get down on himself. To take the key forward off is like bringing on a part-time spinner at 5/70 off 20 overs in a one-dayer.

Kane Cornes to host Friday 9 am - 12 noon on SEN so Gerard Whateley can have the morning off before calling Friday night football.

So I listen to SEN (Whateley is very good) to avoid the Crows/Port centric media in this town, now on Fridays they are infiltrating the Vic media FFS

Makes me laugh, the blokes media career is going gang busters but nobody likes him and nobody listens to him. Goes against everything the media want from their presenters.

He's a dead set genius!

I actually don't mind listening to him as I reckon he makes some good points, but something about his voice and his lack of vocabulary turns me off after a while.

The bloke is about as interesting as a cardboard box. Chip off the old block apparently.

No, I work at a box making factory, it's hard to keep a straight face when a female customer is telling you that her flaps are too short on her box or that they don't tuck in.

There are many other conversations that happen of the same ilk.

I know a courier driver who went to a business to pick up an item.
He said to the lass behind the counter “Afternoon luv, got something?”
“Yes, I’ve got a big box for you” she replied
“Jesus, I don’t even know your name, luv. How ‘bout I put the freight in my van first then we can get to that...”
He somehow kept his job
