Good luck with recruiting for the B grade Tiger. It's hard to recruit guys who are happy to play Bs because they usually have no reason to leave their current club. It's not like anybody is going to pay them money to play Bs either. Sometimes when there are a lot of recruits the guys who think they might be playing in a struggling B grade side rather than playing all As will bugger off too.
I reckon recruiting a good B grade side is harder than recruiting A graders.

It's been known to happen... I know of one club last year that recruited all these "stars" that ended up playing in the magoos and still got their payments..

it would be harder
but sometimes you pick up some handy blokes for free when you recuruit A graders, alot of the time they are a mate of the bloke and might tag along cause there mate is there which is handy!
get on board the thunder train!!!

Heard that a few Eastern Park players that went to Gunmeracha may be heading back. Anyone know if this is true?

Oh come Jimmy, we embrace our collegiate brethren. Don't worry the Reds are safe. I don't believe there are (m)any on the radar. SHOC might be safe to if for no other reason than the lonesome highway that leads into the city from down that way. Must be all of 10km or so and there aren't as many confessionals in the city as down genelg.Jimmy_041 wrote:Which old scholars side are Uni going to pillage this year Rotter? I beleive there were some informal approaches to Ryan Byrne Rotter- We still remember the Rape of Park Nineking - Tom Martin, Bubba, Evan, any Katsaros that has a tackle.......

Re: SAAFL Div 2 & 2R (2009)
They certainly arent recruits Jimmy. Would hardly be a player amongst them except perhaps Martin who can actually play at a decent level. Most of the others are very ordinary players. Byrne is over rated and not fit enough and the others are just no bodies who play ordinary football, Some have high skill levels but there is a distinct problem in getting the "aggot" in the first place for most of them as they reach for the football and certainly would not put their bodies in a straight line with the ball or the ball carrier

Is that right big mouth - ever seen any of them play, or God forbid, actually played against one of them?
Any reason Ryan Byrne was not fit enough last year? You seem to know everything, or at least have an opinion

Seeing all played A1 and Byrne has played YPFL, I will take it that you think you are funny
Let us know who you are so we can watch you, or better still, go and stand Ryan Byrne this year to see how you go

Re: SAAFL Div 2 & 2R (2009)
My only addition to this fruitful debate is it was most likely Jarrod rather than Ryan and from what I can gather it was during one of those conversations that happen at 2:00am at the Maid. A few you did forget Jimmy that we hijacked who added as much as the other four is Brenton Cardone, Tom Davies a couple of Dicksons and then to a lesser degree Ben Prisk & Nathan HallionJimmy_041 wrote:usernameandpassword wrote:They certainly arent recruits Jimmy. agree with rotter you have got to be kidding, I think you might have suffered some devastating losses against uni in your day and it's still hurting.

Ha ha! Good one Jimmy! Keep taking the shotgun approach, accuse everyone of being me and eventually you'll get it right!
Is the Evan you are talking about Evan Arnold? A very good player but apparently he has no friends.

A great bloke Evan, it sometimes pays to know a person before you make stupid, ill informed comments about them. He could play footy too!
Now that is just plain dumb, don't you think?

well jimmy, since most of the above don't play anywhere anymore its probably time to get over it
yeah we got good results from tom martin, davies, ferguson and katsaros, evan arnold and the various dixons but some returned to the reds as you know and even sponsor them.
its not as if uni players aren't approached to go elsewhere. and luckily enough the system that all university attendees playing football had to play uni footer first doesn't apply - yes, i realise the flipside that graduates had then to move on as well.
informal approaches are a matter of course throughout the amateurs especially given the social interactions between players of different clubs - we've got players from just meeting them at the pub and having a few thousand too many drinks.
always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much
