Yeh, it's an unwritten rule on this forum not to 'brag' about wins after the event. I think that's because we 'should' share our tips and also, it's easy to talk up your game after the event.

Also, people used to slag people like me off for sending through tips of things that "couldn't win". Those people that did that never posted their tips, just slagged people for having a go.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, it's better to put your tips out there than brag after the event (cos anyone can do that).

Point taken & fair enough, but to be fair:
Both Trifectas I put up, plus the Quaddie, plus Jameka & Scottish, plus First Seal.
The others I backed at the track in the Members & just saying what a good day I had there.
I also tipped you all Patition in the 1st Race (Hutchy tipped both it & Swampland on Get On, I took Swampland because the place dividend with Robbie Waterhouse on track was so much better).
Perhaps I got a little over excited about the day, but it cost us over a 'Monkey' to go this weekend, & I actually ended up in front overall, so I was a little happy with myself - but I'll keep it in mind

I was responding to the question about the rules, not having a go at you LPH.

Good work yesterday by the way, keep up the good work.

Nah, that's all good.
I was more concerned by the post from 'the Shiek' - didn't know if I'd over stepped in my 'exuberance'
BTW, I asked Robbie Waterhouse to sign my Racebook but he declined!
He & the Bookie next to him 'Cleary' - they invariably gave the best prices both Win & Place throughout the day of all the books.
Was interesting comparing prices as there are so many more Bookies in Melbourne than left here @ Morphettville

How many of those bookies are predominantly carnival books?

No, because you'd posted your tips earlier.

BTW, I reckon Hartnell will flog Winx this week as much as I love Winx.

Have been watching the Bonecrusher v Waveley Star race a few times this week.
Could be another match race this year.

Don't discount the 3 yr old Filly - always a huge advantage only carrying 48.5 kgs @ WFA

As always, Barriers will play a part.

My $5 @ $151 for Jameka Caulfield Cup / Melbourne Cup double ( submitted in August ) makes for interesting viewing of Cup week.

Maher would be happy with that!
There was some talk she'd get 3 kgs like Might & Power did.
She only needs to draw a gate (10 or Less) & gives it a huge shake.

Geelong Cup runners will help us at least get a better 'feel' of some of the Internationals but I still get annoyed they don't have to run at least once here before the Cup - so hard to line up the International Form lines

The media wanted her to get 2kgs.
1.5 is a fair result

I was very impressed with Exospheric in the Caulfield. International runners who hit the Geelong Cup or straight into the Melbourne Cup have a terrible record. Those who arrive a month or so earlier, get on the food and get a run under their belt are usually in the big one for longer.

Whilst I ( obviously ) want Jameka to win the Melbourne Cup I think the run of Exospheric in the Caulfield Cup was the eye catcher. Not sure about the 2 miles for Jameka.

And if there's a heavy track at any stage, Our Ivanhowe looked to be the best of those coming late, it had the most left in the last 200 from anything at the back.

Hmmm... not sure about that.
I thought Almoonquith was finishing better than most for 4th, but to be fair I was on 2nd & 3rd.

Geelong Cup a poor record?
Media Puzzle, Dunaden, Americain & Bauer come to mind as Internationals who have won that & gone on to do well.
Also, On a Juene - locally

Almoonqith would be a nightmare to follow, 15 starts for 2 wins and no other places, I too liked it's run but I'm not sure it's the quality of the front runners for the Melbourne Cup.

My bad, I was meant to say runners who "go straight to the Melbourne Cup without a run". I think the Caulfield is the ideal prep, means they're here and settled. When you look at the amount who come into the Melbourne via the Geelong the ones listed above show their quality, the amount who do it and succeed are outnumbered by those who don't.
