Big Nick Riewoldt fan, especially his views on the couch tonight regarding drugs in the AFL.

Same, even the hawks game is on in the background whilst doing other sh!t around the house. Just doesnt have the allure it once had with me.Jim05 wrote:What it does mean though is that I don’t even watch stuff all AFL anymore. Think I watched less than a quarter total for the weekend

Re: AFL media
Hahaha come on guys, imagine having Kayo so you can watch your team play......even if it's on in the background it's bloody painful to watch.
Read my reply. It is directed at you because you have double standards

I would've only missed a handful of Centrals games from 1993 (when I was ten) to 2016 (when we moved to Clare).
These days I watch the centrals games through digital pass but like you im hardly glued to the footage. Generally have it on whilst doing jobs around the home.
The days of riding every bump and kick are long gone for me, I wonder if its acclimatisation to watching so many games on tv rather than being at them. I'm sure if I was at the ground the 'passion' would come rushing back, I just don't feel as emotionally invested when watching from home.

Re: AFL media
Same goes with the footy shows. Previously, I religiously watched AFL 360 and On The Couch every night it was on. Reckon I've watched one episode of each this year. Still watch the Front Bar though as it's more of a good laugh. You watch shit footy on the weekend and don't feel like listening to people on TV talk about how shit it is during the week, especially when nothing is being done about it.whufc wrote:For some of us I think that comes with age...MatteeG wrote:Same, even the hawks game is on in the background whilst doing other sh!t around the house. So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

Re: AFL media
Yeah I know we do it on here but im the same, I watch a few episodes here and there but get sick of the high level over the top analysis of every single element of the game on and off the field.
You know the type of stuff, a camera catches a player laughing whist on the bench so all of sudden he doesn't give a crap about the club, team or game and that the coach didn't have them switched on etc etc.
Even stats like metres gained are pretty pointless in modern football yet get analysed with a fine comb.

But do you go down the fat side or open up the thin side, FFS get the ball and kick it through the goalswhufc wrote:Yeah I know we do it on here but im the same, I watch a few episodes here and there but get sick of the high level over the top analysis of every single element of the game on and off the field.

Re: AFL media
Isn't it funny thought that for all the changes, the best way to score is still fast movement through the middle of the ground to a key forward leading up a the ball in a 1v1 situation.
Every week the commentators "marvel" how sides are looking to take risks and come back through the corridor.. no shit, it's been the same for forever and a day, it's not reinventing the wheel here FFS.

True, I think there is more of it now with the "stand rule" where you are actually standing the mark properly and not being able to cut off the angle forcing the kick down the line. The Bedge wrote:Isn't it funny thought that for all the changes, the best way to score is still fast movement through the middle of the ground to a key forward leading up a the ball in a 1v1 situation.

Awful look when you have guys kicking basically next to the guy on the mark and he can't do anything about it.Booney wrote:For a few seconds its 17 v 18.Arch44 wrote:True, I think there is more of it now with the "stand rule" where you are actually standing the mark properly and not being able to cut off the angle forcing the kick down the line. The Bedge wrote:Isn't it funny thought that for all the changes, the best way to score is still fast movement through the middle of the ground to a key forward leading up a the ball in a 1v1 situation.

Re: AFL media
What commentators here are marveling at is how the opposition has allowed it or how the attacking team has engineered moves to temporarily open up the field. Down the guts still works, but engineering it is what makes the commentators go oh ah.The Bedge wrote:Isn't it funny thought that for all the changes, the best way to score is still fast movement through the middle of the ground to a key forward leading up a the ball in a 1v1 situation.
