Re: I need to know....
What is the best thing or things to look for when getting travel insurance and who is your recommended insurer?

The main thing is what happens to your personal effects when stolen. Some of them won't cover things stolen from cars, trains, or hotel rooms unless it is physically on your person.
Last time I travelled I had free travel insurance from CommBank platinum credit card. It was roughly equivalent to the other one which was going to cost $500. Made sure I kept all my super valuables on me at all times though.
Apparently some are better than others at paying out too though I can't comment

Our travel insurance is actually pretty good. You'll find that most insurers are essentially underwritten by one or two base companies but with different guidelines to suit the on sellers target market.
What you look for depends your needs.
Is it for domestic or international travel Jase.

Mate wants his Buck Show next month to be a pretty tame affair, basically just all his mates sitting around a beer garden drinking froff. Can anyone suggest somewhere in town with a deent beer garden? TIA

Depends on how many of you there will be. The Ed Castle has a massive beer garden that would be perfect for a large, rowdy group. If you've got a smaller, quieter group, I can list off a few smaller venues.

I'm struggling to think of any that you could call 'decent'. 2KW's rooftop-outdoor spot apparently has a nice view, but an extended drinking session there will not be cheap exercise. The rooftop at the Gallery on Waymouth Street is OK, but can get busy in good weather. The Ed Castle, as Q says, is large and pretty accommodating.
If you venture out into North Adelaide, the British has a good outdoor area at the back (although IIRC it's technically enclosed), and possibly the Queen's Head (but I haven't been there in a while). The remaining North Adelaide pubs lack any decent beer gardenage.

2Kw...wow!
Looked at going there for my 40th last year. $1500 to rent a "space" and then minimum spend of $40 per head on food and then minimum spend of $3500 over the bar!
So, for 50-60 people you are looking at around $4000 for "rent" and food along with another $3500 over the bar, if not, you pay the short fall at the end of the night. Could be a $5000 show for the 50 people....out of your pocket! FFS!!!
PS- Been there for a drink and yes, amazing view and very nice spot.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

Agreed. Also on the eastern front, the Maid and Magpie's beer garden is not too bad either.

I haven't been there for years, but I reckon I heard recently that the Strathmore has a reasonable beer garden these days - Is that right?
