Re: CH9AFL Division 1 2016
I'd suspect TTG would be hoping for all of the forecasted max 5 mm of rain to come down between 2 pm and 4:30 pm over Thebarton on Saturday. Every time I saw PAOC this year they appeared to be a team tailor made to play on the expanses of Thebarton Oval on a nice spring day late in September. A heavier track allowing some of the Gullies bigger bodies to do their thing would appear to be their best chance.
Undoubtedly two best teams in the Grand Final. Good luck to both and in my view it's hard to see PAOC losing. Always been a believer that your worst 5 players make the difference in Grand Finals. PAOC's worst 5 are bloody good!

There has been a similar theme to each of their 3 clashes this year. Gullies up and about early, Princes peg them back by half time and then run away with the game after half time. Gullies have shown they can match them for parts of the game, but as soon as Gullies' intensity drops off they get killed by their spread and elite ball use. Princes certainly don't appear to have any weak links. The question is whether Gullies can sustain pressure for a full 4 qtrs.
My understanding is that when Gullies won their last premiership in A2, they lost both home and away games and the second semi final to Adelaide Uni and then came out and beat them in the big one. So,......you never know!

Funny how people are talking about 'signing' up players at this time of the year.
As I understand it , you can get a verbal commitment and thats about it. SAAFL
registrations don't come into effect until Feburary of each year.

Must be the silly season as I heard the Gullies had offered a Norwood Player $1000 a Game.

RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.
Let that be a lesson to you, Port Adelaide Sturt. & Norwood You don't beat Glenelg in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Any truth to the rumours that one of the Grand Final Coaches is stepping up to the vacant job on the Parade next year?

I find it impossible to countenance a Club would blatantly engage in something so illegal

Seems they did win the flag but the Challenge Rule cost them the title in the end
In the Final at Thebarton Oval, Princes took another step towards emulating Saints’ 1935 premiership success when it beat West Adelaide 9.8 to 7.17 after trailing for all but the last five minutes of the match.
West Adelaide then exercised its right of challenge, and aided by straight kicking for goal, denied Princes the opportunity of being only the second old collegiate team to win an A1 premiership. United won the match at Prospect Oval under umpire J.H. Parkinson 10.3 to 7.10 http://www.adelaidefootball.com.au/saafl-history-1937/
That challenge rule seems a real bizarre one to me, obliviously it must have made sense to people at the time.

Looks that way, might even be their first Div 1 GF too if my research is correct. Happy to be proven wrong in this case.

Uni used the Challenge Rule on us in 1953. Uni finished top but were knocked out by Exeter who we beat in the GF. The players then had to back it up against Uni the next week and were able to get over the line.
