Shame Southerns couldn't get hold of it.Tony Clifton wrote:The wicket is good nowthe smokey wrote:Tony Clifton wrote:Yeah Southern Districts use Christies Beach High for U16s now. 3rd and 4th Grade at Adelaide High
If the under 16's are using this ground it is the biggest joke of all time. This ground the only way to score is to hit the ball in the air due to the infield and outfield being so thick.
The wicket is horrific.
if you were a young kid why would you play for SD if you had to play on this every second game go down the road and play for Reynella. this ground was a joke and when they pulled it from the C's and D;s I thought that SACA finally listened to all the complaints - but instead its a junior ground give me a break.
There has to be a better ground in the area - and i haven't even started on limited shade and facilities!! the WORST ground I've ever played cricket at in 20+ yearts of playing!
Outfield though still much too long as you said. And yes, the amenities...!
Pretty sure Reynella's No 2 oval is at Woodcroft College which is also a very nice ground. Shame Southerns couldn't get hold of it. Has a hard wicket adjacent too so they could have had U16s and U14s next to each other in a nice setting.
They had their opportunity before reynella went turf but knocked it back because the block and the oval were in such poor condition.
No foresight.
Reynella spent a lot of money and time to get it right and now its in great knick.
Why don't they just get the high school cut shorter, its not that hard to do.

Re: Grade Cricket
Yikes... that's a debacle of a decision. A turf oval and a hard wicket oval next to each other in your heartland at the largest school in the southern suburbs and one that plays in college cricket competitions.tigerpie wrote: Shame Southerns couldn't get hold of it.

And there is such a huge shortage of turf ovals around their area too.
Well played Reynella I guess.

E2014 - Southern's tried to swoop in at the expiry of Reynella's first contract, however the dot point "first right of return" stopped Southern's in there tracksTony Clifton wrote:Yikes... that's a debacle of a decision. Pardon the pun but lets just say Reynella are on a very good wicket both from a playing sense and financially with the college.

Promised the college all sorts of bs, luckily the property manager saw straight through them and stayed with reynella.
That was a very short term for the then president of SD. Shocking PR exercise toward community cricket.
Should put drop ins at artic park, problem solved

You can factor in pitch, outfield, changerooms, clubrooms, viewing for spectators/players, surrounds... or whatever you value most highly.

Re: Grade Cricket
They certainly did. But that was almost unavoidable given the circumstances. I recall getting a hammering by Port only to roll into the pub just in time to see Riewoldt smothered in the goal square. Not a great day to be a TTG cricketer and saints fan in one!heater31 wrote:They played on 2010 replay day....Bluedemon wrote:was it going to be played as a one dayer or 2 day game?Eagles2014 wrote:With the Grade season due to start on Oct 24, and the AFL Grand Final now likely to be on that day, wonder what SACA will do?

Re: Grade Cricket
With most clubs starting preseason or just about to start has there been much player movement?
Have Adelaide named a new coach yet after Taity departed?
Was at Gillespie's and saw Ports keeper training with the Seahorses so must be returning home

50 Over game to be played on the 24th.
First 2 weekends will be 50 over games.
2 day games start November 7.
I think T20 games are all played on a Tuesday night (couldn't think of anything worse!)

If that's the case Port must have picked up a 'keeper from somewhere? The Hound wrote:Damon Kerr heading back to the Ocean Pony's ?
Speaking of the Bays, I heard around the traps that Josh Hoffman has quit cricket again? Another one who has been though all the junior programs only to pull the pin, along with the likes of Reardon, Gutschke etc. from recent times.

Re: Grade Cricket
Sam McNally approached Damon offering him the 1st Grade keeper. Roach was dropped last year. Think Damon (or Dad, John more!!) always wanted to go back to Bays at some stage. Also got James Munting back, has not played there since 2013, so not sure how old, or quick, he would be these days.Minimum Chips wrote:If that's the case Port must have picked up a 'keeper from somewhere? The Hound wrote:Damon Kerr heading back to the Ocean Pony's ?
