will be interesting to see the rocs v uni game - they often play trials against each other so there may be a practice run.
i'm sure ( or hoping a lot) with a few players entering their second or third year at a grade level that the blacks will be more consistent in 2010.
always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much

Re: SAAFL Div 2 & 2R (2010)
Probably a bit late to comment on all the talk about Dazz Mitchell and players looking around Modbury but still want my opinion in (i dont look at the forums over the weekend).
Dazz has had a rough trot with injuries etc for the last couple of years but when fit and firing is a decent forward, think there is some tension because he gave his word that he was staying with the Hawks but then we found out through Broadview he had signed with them. No one likes to look like a fool or be lied to, if he just said he was leaving to play with his brother and for a div 1 club it would have been no great issue. .
Shirt front im not sure where you got your information from about players looking around? possibly could have come from the Mitchell boys but it isnt uncommon for players to bag out there previous club when they move to try and justify there decision, more often than not its for there own piece of mind. It happens, i like to think most of the boys at Modbury are bigger than holding a grudge or getting razzed up over a defection. If any player leaves our club its usually to play a higher level or further there footy career, not always the case but there are some good examples of it (ie. Vassal who nearly played in a SANFL grandfinal this year). Its understandable and while they may cop a bit of flack from there team mates for moving, we know if we make sure they remember where there home is and dont let them leave with a bad taste in there mouth there is always a chance they could come back.
A really good buzz and feel at our club and we are trying to build a culture that attracts players and makes them want to come and play for more than just the $$$ that some of your other Div 1 sides can offer. . (please dont see this as a money comment, if you wanna talk about that stuff there are plenty of people on the Div 1 forum that can go all day on that, think there up to about 13 pages of it already.

He kicked 22 (i think) for Pulteney once, held the amatuer league record for a while.

I'm sure Lester was a Junior, but didnt come back to his old club for the love of it did he....brought some other very money hungry players with him and they got demoted....then left the sinking ship they created and went for bigger $$ to the Riverland!!

Actually Lester and Pierri were both juniors. Also, other way around, they left the Riverland to come to the Raggies. So as you don't seem to know too much Pacman, I suggest you don't go posting too much more about what you don't know. Molloy also didn't cost much because he did his knee in his first game for the Club, not that he was on a monstrous pay packet that you suggest anyway. As for leaving the sinking ship, Lester coached for 2 more years after demotion to Div 3.

My 'gripe' is not with Lester Ross (plenty of respect there)....I played on Pierre the year he came back to the Raggies and he did not kick a goal all day. He just talked to his mates that followed him from end to end. In the last quarter of the game he was quoted to say 'Who cares, I'll get my matchy and we will get out of here'. Quality.
I am not having a go at Athelstone, I just hate when 'big name' players come back to Amateur League clubs purely for money and they expect it!! It cant be about that and I hope Athelstone are back playing D1 soon. I am just trying to make the point that you are not just recruiting the player you are recruiting the bloke that comes with it!!

Pacman, I was wondering if you might really tell us how good you were rather than just tease us. In your 15 posts thus far you've managed to drop that you've played state footy, held Pierre goal-less for the day and passed plenty of opinions on other clubs and how they conduct their business.Pacman wrote:Pacman wrote:My 'gripe' is not with Lester Ross (plenty of respect there)....I played on Pierre the year he came back to the Raggies and he did not kick a goal all day. Pierri was only goalless on 2 occasions in 2002, he kicked 80 for the year. Pacman must have played for Henley or Gepps Cross...

Not for us, I don't think so anyway, mind you we did have a good fullback in Scott Klenner.

I reckon someone has either been 'weeing' in your boot SB, or Walkies are sick of the YoYo effect.
Edited on further advice, things have certainly changed at Smith Street.

Interesting I've heard a former Townie to the Shoes for the same amount.
