Good point, not really sure how that works. Reckon nannes might have played internationals for both. And there is a former England international playing for Ireland too, can't remember his name atm. Surely there is some point where you have to choose?

Ed Joyce is the one you are thinking of.... Irish originally then qualified for England then played a few internationals for them and fell down the pecking order. Went back to Ireland.
They are allowed to play for an associate nation until they played for their full member nation at senior level. Nannes played at a WC of some description and did well then went on to play for Australia.

Re: SA v QLD SS 12 FEB
So Joyce would have played an international for England then Ireland? Or maybe he didn't play for Ireland before England so he could swap?

Joyce is slightly different, I'm sure he played for Ireland first then moved to England. He has now just re-qualified for Ireland. I think he has had to sit out a qualification period twice. Bit like Kevin Peiterson had to play first class cricket only in England for a couple of seasons to be eligible for selection.

Re: SA v QLD SS 12 FEB
Pretty sure you don't have to sit out the qualification period when going from an associate to full member.
Only have to when going from one full member side to another eg: Luke Ronchi recently!
Cooper could get picked for Australia tomorrow and be eligible to play
