High quality game. Very even performance by both teams, but in the end, the pressure of having to chase the runs was too much, despite Glenelg having wickets in hand and keeping the rrq around 5 per over for the majority of the innings. Winter and Gibson the standouts with the bat - well supported in both cases by Irvine and Peters respectively. Peters was also exceptional behind the stumps, including a leg-side stumping off a wide ball from Short. The all-round contributions of Short and Fallins proved crucial, both their partnership with the bat and with the ball and the standout bowling performance by Buckingham was match winning after Winter threatened to win the game off his own bat.

Kudos to Winter for a captain's knock but with his dismissal, the game was effectively over.
Peters was outstanding on Saturday against Prospect, yesterday in the GF and definitely BOG in the Henley Oval clubrooms that night. I think he had a point to prove and he raised his game to the next level. Great night back at the club with a large, bouyant crowd of Eagles faithful.
Interestingly, Torrens has won their past 3 GF's against Glenelg - in 2016/17 the T 20 and One Dayer finals as part of the triple crown and yesterday's game.

PS. I thought Buckingham should’ve got the BOG award given WT won. Fair enough Winter if Glenelg won. His 4/27 off 10 including wickets of Scott, Higgins and Winter easily as important as the century.

Agree - was nice to see that SACA let Drew and Scott play for their respective teams the day after a shield game that would not have been allowed in the recetn years gone past.

eCHO previous posts Buckingham should have won MOM 4 wickets all good players and crucial. A terrific final and two excellent teams. Fair bit of friendly and some not so friendly banter from supporters also which added to the spectacle. a good tough game.

Re the ball shining it appeared that one player with tape on his hand was rubbing the ball between deliveries until the umpires were informed and then he stopped doing it isnt it funny what the frogbox can pick up these days.
