The fact she's been admitted to a secondary/tertiary hospital on teh Sunshine Coast given that most major hospitals around the country are at capacity makes me know that she is ill.daysofourlives wrote:Thought for the day

Making up cases again ahead of SoE extensions.
People aren't admitted to hospital in Australia for a virus unless it is real. We haven't got the beds for that.
Sorry Daisy the reality of the Australian health Care system doesn't support your imagination
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

How infectious is she though if her husband has tested negative? He is the one who sat in the car with her. If I were all these places she stopped at it would be pretty unlikely to catch it based on that I would have thought.am Bays wrote:The fact she's been admitted to a secondary/tertiary hospital on teh Sunshine Coast given that most major hospitals around the country are at capacity makes me know that she is ill.daysofourlives wrote:Thought for the day

So all the places she visited, those everyday folk go and get tested now, get the negative and think you ripper, I'm all clear.
However they actually have it, just like the hubby, and they spend the next 8 days spreading it around before developing symptoms and getting another test only to find out they do have it...

In reality we are. The amount of people that would have it going undiagnosed would be alarming to a lot of people. The evidence in the waste water shows you that.Dutchy wrote:We have to learn to live with it

Surely the world cant go in and out of lockdowns, travel bubbles etc for the next 20 years. Yes we can continue to trace into venues, continue to have social distancing rules and capacity rules but unless we can find a way to completely eradicate the virus or to 'enforce' mandatory vaccinations then we are going to have to get to a point where people just have to live with the risk like we do many other risks we live with every day.
I also think that if such things as enforced vaccination or even vaccine passports become a permeant requirement then there is enough of a disgruntled population which will cause an uprising. It wont be me as I've had my vaccine and I know I'm happy to do my bit but am I going to be happy in 10 years time to still have restrictions placed on me at any minute absolutely not.

Don't you think this will just end up becoming like the common flu? Vaccination shot each year, live life knowing that xx amount of people will contract and die.whufc wrote:Surely the world cant go in and out of lockdowns, travel bubbles etc for the next 20 years. Will never be able to eradicate it completely.
The largest concern early days was that no vaccine was available, thus no way to control or prepare for it. This time next year, surely it'll be life as normal?

I think we might see places such as aged care able to enforce no vaccine no visit but could you imagine the uproar if the AFL enforced no vaccines no ticket....
My personal guess is that yep we will get to a point where coronavirus is considered on the same level as flu, albeit people understand how quickly it can spread so more people probably will get the vaccine than the flu one.

You will absolutely require a vaccination to travel on any aircraft domestically IMO and that will be a lead in to other thingswhufc wrote:Yeah I think that's exactly what will happen. The Bedge wrote:Don't you think this will just end up becoming like the common flu? Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)
Agree that will happen and the initial response will be positive as we are living in the crisis right now.
Will people feel the same about having to have a vaccine to travel in 10 years time...…..at that point I don't think people will and there seems to be enough angst in the community as it is never mind in ten years time.
Will be interesting as well as there is nothing more certain than the legal system will get tested on many occasions once a variety of places start making vaccines mandatory, especially when it starts impacting on people lives significantly.
Obviously at the moment people working in certain areas require this and that's fine as they are passionate about the industry they work in, will be a different story though when the requirement extends to everyday freedoms such as travel, going to a sport event etc etc.

I wonder what sort of shit people cop when others find out that they've had covid?
I know it's not generally their fault but there is a lot of pissed off people out there and people are ruthless.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)
We have a member here who had Covid. He was a Clare native living in France, got Covid waited over 3 months and then moved back to Clare. Everyone knew as they ran a front page story in the local paper detailing his covid experience, in essence it was a plea to encourage everyone to take covid seriously.Lightning McQueen wrote:I wonder what sort of shit people cop when others find out that they've had covid?

We have had to chat to other members and even brief staff about acceptance as there were a lot of concerns raised about him being in our facility despite the fact he had all the correct medical clearances.
I speak to him a bit and its fair to say it wasn't the easiest time for him and he wasn't expecting a reaction, but things are getting better.

It will be interesting to see is having COVID provides some long term health impacts.
If we have to learn to live with it, then why the hell is the vax program going so slowly??

Inept federal government. My Mum, 78, hasn't had her injection yet as she doesn't feel she's been educated enough on the topic. She's got a GP appointment this week though after I urged her to speak to him. My brother, 52, has had his first AZ jab.Dutchy wrote:It will be interesting to see is having COVID provides some long term health impacts.

The federal government needed to align the roll out with an education campaign, they needed people to trust the process backed by the science.
It's hardly surprising however that Morrison and his cohorts have let us down throughout this pandemic, they've left the states to fend for themselves and if not for the efforts of all but Victoria we would have been in a remarkably worse state.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid19)
Yeah I thought that would be the answer.
I can go get it but I see no real encouragement to do so, I know its the right thing to do but Im also pretty lazy and there are a heap of things that have a higher priority in my life right now.
Staggered there hasn't been a public awareness campaign smashing us to go get it done. Is supply an issue or concern if they did that?

My reading is exactly this, if people were lining up we wouldn't have enough so a slow walk in rate suits the drip fed supply rate.Dutchy wrote: Is supply an issue or concern if they did that?
