Woodville-West Torrens will be without two premiership players for the must-win clash with Port on Saturday.
Veteran pair Scott Lewis (hamstring) and Matthew Goldsworthy (quad) were deemed unfit to face the Magpies.
Four players have been included in the 23-man squad with first-year coach Sam Lonergan yet to make any unforced changes despite losing three matches in succession.
Ruck pair Jarrad Redden and Jordan West have been named on the extended interchange bench while fellow inclusions Joe Heinjus (full back) and Nick Hayes (half-forward) are in the starting 18.
Jack Gaffney will play his 50th Statewide Super League match since making his debut in Round 3 2016.

Re: Eagles v Port Sat 1410
Port will not lose all of Amon (AFL), Johnson (AFL), Lienert (AFL), Broadbent (AFL),
Makes their side look much stronger. Eagles down on form and missing a couple of important midfielders.
Port by 2 goals.

Re: Eagles v Port Sat 1410
It will really hurt watching Cam Sutcliffe play against the Eagles. Cam should have been a prime signing for the Eagles this season, but SANFL's new marquee signing rubbish has floored the Eagles. How can SANFL clubs compete with the huge salary caps of the power and crows plus handing out a $100,000 job in the football department. The SANFL should be protecting the eight SANFL clubs not plotting their downfall. At least if the two AFL clubs want a marquee player at least make sure they have some connection to the clubs, ie previous players, why couldn't one of the delisted players be given the position. There could be no justification in establishing "the marquee player". No wonder the AFL reserves teams are loathed in the SANFL.

So you'd prefer Toumpas to be Port's captain and Petrenko for Adelaide?

Just have no marquee player I reckon. Each club has a squad of players so go for it. Its a load of croc as is the mid season draft . If clubs cant select the right players then look at the recruiting staff.

Re: Eagles v Port Sat 1410
Very few injuries just too small and too slow...how Seb Guilhuis can't get a game in this rabble is beyond me

Maybe a transition phase with new coach. But if pace is needed how is Lewis and Redden getting a game ?

Re: Eagles v Port Sat 1410
Lewis has never been blessed with pace. Redden is a big lump of a ruckman. Does the coach really play his nephew up forward?
Seb Guilhuis turned down a good offer in the country and I think he would be every chance to leave if not in the league side by June 30.

After 5 rounds, this must be the lowest that the Eagles have been on the ladder in 10 years. Not a good start for a new coach.

Think they went 0-6 in 2012 (and still played finals)

Re: Eagles v Port Sat 1410
The Eagles have similar issues to the other 7 sanfl clubs, but over the years and especially this year,
the quality of leadership on the field gets seldom mentioned but is actually why we can’t go all the way!
Whatever gets preached in the change rooms mostly goes fairly quiet out on the field from all the senior players
most of the time. Inspirational leaders occasionally are required to do something different, something out of the
team plan, but not at the Eagles!
It’s early into his contract and Lonergan certainly talks the talk. The players though seem walking somewhat confused

Re: Eagles v Port Sat 1410
Eagles 0-5 in 2012. Leg speed has been a problem for years and accentuated by slow ball movement and poor decision making this year. Struggled in ruck since Craig Parry left.

What does this relate too?
If you want to go quickly, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.
