West Adelaide has rushed back premiership captain Chris Schmidt for its contest against South Adelaide on Sunday.
Schmidt, who hasn’t played since Round 6 due to a knee injury, has been named on a five-man extended interchange bench together with fellow inclusion Dallas Willsmore.
Exciting goalsneaks Gibson Turner and Ken Karpany have returned to the starting 18 after being named inside the Bloods’ attacking 50m arc.
Tall utility Chol Majok was sent back to the Reserves while journeyman Nigel Osborn couldn’t be considered due to work commitments.

Re: West v South Sun 1410
I can barely remember the last game South played due to the never ending bye state split rounds that all football supporters love, except for those that like to go to the game. But who cares about them.
If South are to play finals (even though Glenelg will win the flag in a cakewalk,) they can not afford to slip up here. Looking forward to this one.
South by a point.

Re: West v South Sun 1410
South should win by 4 or 5 goals, however, “should” doesn’t get the win. We need to back up our effort and performance from the Glenelg game and we need to come out firing. We can’t afford to be lacklustre or Westies will punish us at Richmond. My man the E-Man is back, he was showing good form before his injury so I’m looking forward to seeing him play again. Go Panthers!

Re: West v South Sun 1410
Wow what a shocking first quarter. The ground is a mud heap and West playing the conditions much better. South trying to be too fancy and too many skill errors and selfishness. Not a good start.

West 2.2
South 0.5

Re: West v South Sun 1410
A much better effort that quarter, just need to polish up the goal kicking! Fantastic passage of play to end the quarter starting with desperate defence by Tyson Brown who then started a great link of kicks to the forward line and Cross finishing with a great mark and goal.

Re: West v South Sun 1410
I thought South adjusted well after quarter time and fixed the goal kicking in the second half (except Kyle Emery who kicked 1.4). A crucial win to stay in the five. Haines, Karpany and Liddle the best for me with good contributions by Schwarz, Cross, Noble, McGree, Cailotto and Heaslip. Emery would have been a star if he kicked straight, I like how he plays the game though. Go Panthers!

Re: West v South Sun 1410
Haines played his best game. 12 marks and 9 rebound 50's. leading possession getter on the field. 6 votes.
West started the game well and South kept them in it with some dreadful goal kicking and sloppy tackling. West sent Jack Evans to tag Liddle and when that wasn't working, sent him to Cross. That didn't work either. I think he is going home with either of them he was that close.
Chris Schmidt showed why he is one of the best in the league with 10 tough tackles. Great player. He clearly has an injured knee still, did not want to kick and did little running compared to his normal self,
Karpeny continues to improve, Brad Crabb very solid and Nic Schwarz is the inclusion we needed in the middle.
Crowd way above expectations. At least 1100. Good BBQ and very cold beer.

Re: West v South Sun 1410
Joel Cross offered a reprimand and fine for striking. What an absolute joke! The bloke gets beaten up every week and gets nothing, he’s just such a champion and plays well regardless of what thuggery comes his way!
