Can't you just leave it slightly full and evaporation will take care of the rest.

I swept away probably 300-400lt off the pavers as where they fall was sodden and not taking anymore water in.

Common sense, Jesus one of a few, most ring me to come over & solve the dilemma. Had a woman ring me last weekend to fix a 19mm poly pipe she put a fork through, was installed 6 years ago but apparently my fault.
Side note Booney, don't empty the pool water onto your lawn, had another bloke try to explain to me my irrigation was faulty (after 3 years) when he emptied his salt water pool onto about 30m2 of his prized turf.
