While J McMahon is back in town and has been talking to the Bays, I think Smitty was referring to someone in your avatar

Is a former bays and footscray player back in town then ?
Darren Read??
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Oh, silly me. I was thinking along the lines of Players not Staff.
Personally, I reckon they're welcome to him if they really want him

Great move Port and he gets to stay in Adelaide and play for us if not selected with Power.
Now just need an Adelaide based club to pick up Populino and Lower so they are not lost to the Redlegs.
It might be a forerunner of things to come. With Rhode and Primus heading up the Power. Agreed very good for Norwood. They pick up a bit of cash, don't have to pay him (mostly) and I think will retain him for the year. Still a bit surprised, he's 23, played 59 games for 77 goals. 1.3 goals a game, not exactly too impressive (on raw stats). How did he go in the B & F?
When tested in a big game the GF, he had 1 kick one handball and one goal. Whilst his opposition player proved quite damaging. Yes, I know he "may" have kicked 10 in the last quarter and 10 minutes if he hadn't had to go off. It's just an observation with the disclaimer, I haven't seen much of him and also was just as surprised when the Crows picked up Ricky Henderson (and that's turning out okay for them). I'll also add, I was surprised Ben Nason (who couldn't make Centrals GF team) was picked up and played about 90% of this season at Richmond.
I think he'll need a bit "surer" hands in the AFL as well. Anyway good luck to him. I hope he plays every game for the Power.

Fair calls mate .. I must admit I was starting to think he might be AFL bound in the 2nd half of the season, although the Power selecting him surprised me a bit (given the small forwards they already have).
Flips accumulated stats for Norwood probably mask where he's at today, as he really didn't play to his ability until this season.
There's no question there's some things he needs to eradicate from his game, and some area's of improvement .. Clean hands early in the game being one of them, but if he can sort that out he's a chance to play a bit of AFL footy.

Norwood get no cash for him as he has already been drafted previously to sydney. but as you say they dont have to pay him as much as the power will pick up the slack.
Duigan- potentially carlton
lower - potentially freo
pup- hopefully gets a crack somewhere (will be a loss for norwood, but deserves a crack)
and agree with you centurian. i'd take callinan. how old is he though?

Not sure about the first point, I thought Westies got money when Tuck was drafted to Richmond, but on the second point, Norwood won't be paying Phillips anything. He's a Port player now, they pay his wages.

Not sure if this is current, or how having played already for Sydney may impact on the payment scenario. For example what club gets paid if he plays four more AFL games to make it up to ten?
2. Upon being drafted by an AFL Club (Regulation 14.7.6), the Club, League and
Zone shall receive the following.
1) On being drafted the SANFL Club receives $25,000 of which $5,000 goes
back to the Affiliated League/Association. This is normally broken up in
the following manner – a minimum of 40% to the Club, 30% to the
League, eg NEMJFA, and 30% to the Zone, eg Amateur League.
2) On playing his tenth AFL game the SANFL Club receives $15,000 of
which $3,000 goes back to the Affiliated League/Association and is broken
up as above.
3) On his second year on an AFL List and after he has played 10 games, the
SANFL Club receives $10,000 of which $2,000 goes back to the Affiliated
League/Association and is broken up as above.
The amount forthcoming from the AFL varies from year to year and is at the discretion of
the AFL/SANFL

its all too do with the pre-listed players rule. trying to find it now, but according to a member of the board they were chearing that port picked up flipper because if he went interstate they would have gotten nothing for him.

Fingers crossed he can get through. He played fantastic footy for the Eagles this season when he played. The injuries may have taken a lot away from him, but they didn't take his class.

I noticed Leigh Harding has retired from the Kangas. Only 29 and his reasons was because he didnt wana stop the development of the younger players.
He would be a handy pick up for a lot of sides. Maybe even the bloods, with his ability to play midfield, down back or even up forward!
