Re: SAAFL Div 6 & Div 6R (2011)
not much news around here these days, visser to flinder$ park is a big loss for clg, have heard rumblings at kenilworth of some good signings but they continue to flash the $$ around, players like parry getting coin is a joke to this league.

micko definitely off to goolwa but sources say that corbett will go to henley and try and play divy 1 before going onto woodville west torrens. another midfielder for henley by the sounds. one wonders if he is good enough to make the midfield at henley though as a great midfield. so corbett for henley and not the eagles as first thought. big loss for lockleys though and especially down the road to a club where he might not make the side.

Corbs will play at Henley in the A's no problem. Although he may have to change his game style a bit to give first give as it will be a fair bit quicker and won't be able to dance around players as easy as he has in the past.

Yes AF, Rolla will be our player/coach again next season. As I said before there has been alot of talk about possible recruits but we won't know fully until preseason starts.
As far as I know we've got Moons and Rory back, aswell as Dumpy. We might even have Bannerman from Districts come across. Rolla has asked 4/5 guys that he played with at Birdwood to come out for us and he's fairly confident they will. He has also asked Tom Matoga from Hope Valley, who played with Rolla at Birdwood, to come out for us aswell.
3 very big in's at Div 6 level if true.............
It will be really good to for us to have Moons back at CHB and Rory having the ability to play all over the ground will be very handy. It will be great if Dumpy comes out for us, I can't wait to play alongside him.
If Dempsey plays Div 6 for NH he will dominate

Excuse my naivety on Kenilworth Jake, but who's Parry and is he not good enough to be paid or is it a joke that he is playing div 6 instead of higher?
I have a problem. It's to do with the little man, the squashed-in French man, the naked little squashed up hairy boy! You know! With the hand feet

why would cobett be any great certainty to get a start in all of the henley a grade teams? - jumps six grades and into a premiership team. lockleys would have been on a par with the henley b grade last year, or at least division 6 is around that sort of mark. fair jump in class to make it with a heap of other guys who all missed out on the grand final side and are equally as good and some far more experienced at senior division 1 football. will play some games for sure, but will struggle to play all of the games that as it is a tough gig to maintain form at division 1 for the season. good young player but just a huge jump in class is the difference. the other thing is that he is unlikely to get much time in the henley midfield, with all the stars they have in there which is not going to make him the shining light for eagles talent scouts. like having a maiden winner at echuca trying to win the cox plate asking him to play all 18 games at division 1 level

I would have to agree with watchdog. If Corbett can stay fit I think he would be more than capable of playing A's all of next season with Henley. Yes it is a big jump but he seems to have not only the skills and physical attributes but also the determination to succeed which is needed to play at that level. I could be off the mark but would be surprised if I am. Have to wait and see.

no one is saying he is not a good player last year in division 6 BUT division 1 is about 5 yards quicker, a lot harder and a huge jump for anyone in a season. the thought of him going to the eagles from lockleys would have been ridiculous as the jump would have been too high. great to see the lad having a crack but just don't put expectations on him yet and unless you have seen a lot of division 1 it is difficult to explain the sheer pace, hardness and different game styles, as division 6 is around division 1 reserves standard

I've seen many young players in the past go from U/17's and U/19's into SANFL League over the course of 1 pre-season and I would bet that would be an even bigger jump than Div 6 to Div 1. Given an opportunity some players rise to the challenge. Of course there are numerous that don't. Yes there is 5 Div between where he was and where he wants to be but I still think it is within his capabilities. You are saying don't put expectations on him yet. No one is. There are just some of us that believe he is up to it.

Re: SAAFL Div 6 & Div 6R (2011)
Tom Corbett ( Micks brother) left lockleys at a similar age and now plays league at the eagles. He is a great young player and I have no doubts he will play div 1. Your making it sound like he's putting himself in the draft. The only thing that may take adjusting is the speed but he is well up to that. And for the record horses can improve. Maluckyday couldn't win a maiden at Wyong his first start 9 months ago and now has run a 2nd in a melbourne cup. Its just my opinion and only time will tell.
