You would think that they are but I would say the GWS would not be offering up all that much considering they can pick him up for nothing in the PSD. Having to pay the $1mil paycheck would be all that they are willing to part with. If GWS snare him and he lives up to potential, this side could be dangerous in two years time, they would want to win a quick flag though, with 25 first round draft picks at the club they surely will have salary cap troubles in years to come.

GWS wouldn't give much for someone that in 3 years will be a depth player.

If they are trying to gazzump Sydney they will offer something better than what Sydney are offering otherwise he won't be available for them to take in the PSD.
If they really want him, GWS will have to commit now to get a deal done rather than hope the Sydney deal falls through.

Have we been able to offload Tippett onto some other team yet?

Reckon you're looking @ face value there squida.
Sheedy would be looking @ this bloke thinking even though he may cost us a shit load he can teach these young blokes and take the key forwards to the next level. Now when these blokes are old enough to command serious $$ then Tippets salary will go down and these will have learnt a lot.
Jokes aside he can clunk a mark and has played finals.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

He got little to teach the young lads, comes from a basketball background and isn't a natural footballer, in fact he may learn a thing or 2 from these young lads tbh

Re: Kurt Tippett's playing future?
Tippett was recruited for the fact he's a big, fairly agile 200cm bloke. He's been offered 1m a year because he can take a strong mark under pressure. Maybe he's not in the top 50 on his output at the moment, but his value is what he might be able to do and the fact there are just so few men his size. You can teach skill, train athleticism but you can't make a guy taller.
Any club would want the guy, there's no doubt. Right now he'd slot into any forward line. In 5 years he might be even better. Whether a club wants a big man to protect their young key forwards or a missing piece for a shot at a flag right now, he's got an important role in any team he chooses to go to.

Exactly.
Also, how much longer can he wear the 'potential' tag for?
He needs to start delivering on that.

Re: Kurt Tippett's playing future?
At the moment we don't know what price Tippett has put on his head for Sydney.
I think the Crows should call their bluff and send him to the PSD so Swans are forced to pay the million dollars a season.
Sydney aren't prepared to offer much for a trade so might as well play hard ball with them.

Adelaide in an awkward position here now GWS are out of the picture.

Where did you get that? The AFL site this morning suggested GWS were actively interested.overloaded wrote:Adelaide in an awkward position here now GWS are out of the picture.

They said on the radio that GWS was going to go very hard to get him as well. If I was Adelaide I would can talks with the Swans and work solely on getting a deal done with GWS. Then even if Tippett refuses to go to GWS, they'll just pick him up in the PSD anyway.

I suspect "overloaded" is one of those Port supporters always wishing the Crows ill from being overloaded with resentment of the Crows relatively better form in the AFL, and Port not getting the first licence...

Re: Kurt Tippett's playing future?
If Sydney want KT and don't do a deal for him then Sydney is the loser.
Pick 20 or nothing is not such a big difference so Adelaide should stand firm. You want him you pay for him !

Kurt Tippets management has said KT will not accept any trade to GWS. Thats where overloaded got his info. So GWS can be as interested as they want to be but if KT wont sign off on the deal then it means nothing. These situations really need to be looked at by the AFL. The bloke is not a free agent yet he holds all the cards.

It's also said that if he goes through the PSD then GWS won't be able to meet KT's salary demands, so GWS are just hoping the Sydney deal falls through, offer Adelaide something they can't turn down and try to convince KT to go there

Re: Kurt Tippett's playing future?
I would have thought that Kurt would want to help his mates where he could by making sure Adelaide got at least a reasonable trade for him. But all this talk is making it harder and harder for that to happen. Sydney can now refuse to deal knowing they can bet him for free in the PSD.
The AFL needs to look at this situation, you can't have a virtual unrestricted free agency without any compensation. Adelaide should get something for him, by pay he should be assessed a top 10 pick (probably even around 4 or 5). The fact the player can refuse a trade and then nominating his pay have so much control over his final destination skews the whole system.
After the initial contract, all players should become restricted free agents until they are unrestricted. The AFL say he's worth say pick 7 in the draft, if Sydney don't come up with a good trade, Adelaide take the pick. Sydney get the player, the player gets his club and the original club gets some sort of fair compensation.
