According to media sources (Adelaide Now) Hamilton-Smith has 12 votes of the 25, Redmond has 6 and the other 7 are undecided. Looks like Ms Redmond is in a lot of trouble.

I'm appalled by this to be honest. State Labor is I believe a stupid corrupt and arrogant organisation that couldn't manage a chook raffle and here we have an opposition that is about as stupid. Actually in protest I preferenced the Libs higher than Labor at the last election!

Mate I actually voted Labor twice. Whitlam federally and Dunstan locally. Whitlam turned out to be a dud but I always had high regard for Donny and I still do.

Quite surprised that Steve Marshall is not running for leader. Way above Martin Hamilton Smith in almost every aspect. Way too much like Tony Abbott. The time would be perfect for him now, giving him a chance for long term leadership in what is a relatively weak pool of aspirants.

The speculation seems to have diminished somewhat since the ratings went up after Isobel's apparent gaffe re public service numbers.
I must admit I was concerned some parliamentary members may turn off her after that one but it hasn't happened.

A week is a long time in politics redden
One of the people that signed the petition for the ballot actually wont be voting for MHS
Who knows from how many sides Gillard is going to cop it from up to the next election. Rudd is still actively campaigning against her at every opportunity.
And Jay Weatherill is, by no means, 100% safe in his position. Labor have polling that says he is seen as a safe and conservative leader, but doing nothing, and doing nothing is not going to cut it anymore.

I cant wait for the "A party that can't run itself.........." from the people that recently knifed two leaders that won elections

Yes, I missed that one.
There has been no interest in a change of leadership among the members at large in the electorates that I came across.
But it looks like some of the backbenchers have lost their nerve.

MHS has always wanted another go and the ALP have been promoting his chances to the press hoping his gaining the leadership will push swinging voters back their way.
For the sake of the state, and its economics future, I just hope it is not as successful as my ALP mates I'm having lunch with on November 7th are hoping it will be.
(One of them signalled the plan to me over 12 months ago.)

Isobel Redman seems to have been making some odd statements at the moment such as discussing the potential capacity of Alexander Downer to be the leader of the party and the invite to the senate and so on. I do wonder if she is not planning an exit from politics altogether at the next election? Could it be that others in the party are a little concerned also and are trying to find a way to move her on and to try and make it as soft a landing as possible?
