Careful FC, never go against the Family ( said in the Godfathers voice)

But seriously, anyone willing to put time, effort and $ into a footy club are crucial parts and it takes all kinds :D

and didn't I learn that the hard way

It's all about the money....as soon as he left the first time the club gets relegated.

So maybe it's a good thing he's back then

I'm surprised this stayed quiet for as long as it did (he signed last Thursday). Henley will be hoping he doesn't do the David Bird.

Huge pickup for Henley, one of the biggest transfers in the SAAFL this summer I'd say. Great bloke and will do well in D1 I'd reckon. Seemingly getting better with age.

Have they lost any noted players?

I'm not totally sure. I know they lost their ruckman, Hoban. But he has been replaced with Ross Pederson I'm pretty sure, who's probably better than Hoban and would be a '0' pointer.
They also lost V Rugolo to Goolwa.

Pederson is a good in, ive only seen him play 3 or 4 times but he is "too damn big" and a good communicator to his on ball troop. I felt on GF day this year it was "Big" Dan Roberts getting on top that was a catalyst to SPOC winning the Div 1 Premiership. They should have a great match up this year, 2 big talented tall men adept at the ruckman craft.

Speaking of Robbo he was all but signed sealed and delivered to a location around 2-3 hours from Adelaide and his renumeration for the season would have been in the vicinity of 25K  it is somewhat of a coup that the powers that be and peer group pressure prevented him from signing at the 11th hour and he will remain to defend the Div 1 Premiership next year. Well done to the big fella for turning his back on the big buck$ to play for the medium buck$ :)

Finally not sure if it has been mentioned on here already but SPOC Captain Ben Kilsby has retired due to work commitments among other things. A market is currently being framed for his return date. Plenty of rumours flying around about him being offered $1,400 a game to do a bit of travel on a Saturday. I think he will be back in Blue and Whits by about Round 5 8)

Yeah perhaps on the way through. Thats where half of Gaza are but not where Robbos home might have been.

You saw last years GF Jimmy, i saw you nearly clean out the entire VIP esky and dont get me started on your penchant for nuts :o of the cashew variety  but from memory would your top 3 for SPOC that day have been Shooter Schultz, Robbo and "The Bloodnut with Chappellis killer gleam" Nick Smith?

Perhaps they were the best performed but I know who your personal favorite was. His name and number deceive me at the moment, but he played a 'super-sub like' role and was a crowd favorite in the final quarter.

WTF! Cleaned out the 6 ciders I brought myself!!
Lutz and you did more damage

I thought Roberts was best (after the Nobby's cashews), Smith second and Schultz next
Schultz got an easy ride from the midfield

Not sure that as an incoming recruit to a club with very new facilities that I would be all that pleased to hear that the club has been declared "technically insolvent" by an independant council appointed auditor and that the same club are asking (and got) a 40k ratepayers funded handout for the priveledge of a $3+ million upgrade but are still in a world of hurt....all on public record.... and have been going down hill for a number of years........again on public record

seem like rules for some and rules for others hey EM..........

not sure what you are trying to get at Turk especially as I am not a member of Gaza, although Dad did play there for half a season in 1962, and I am not a member of PA-E Council and to be honest there hasnt been any players talking about not being paid for this year; which from your point of view has been cleared up

I only found out this morning when I checked my email - good work if they can get it; probably sends a message to other Clubs to at least contact the council in writing as you never know unless you ask

I did find it interesting that they also had around $200k plus written off in the early 2000's but I think that one applied to every Club in PA-E Council area

I wish the Salisbury council would write off all club debts owed to them, let alone give out a $40k one off grant 8)

PA & E Council gave them $40K to cover their own ar$e for allowing them to trade as an insolvent body. The council have a lot to answer for when you cant even get potholes fixed on a footpath. Turk, I am with you on this, would be embarrassing for all concerned but now that it's out, who will come up with what the ratepayers should be told and the office of Business & Consumer Affairs might need some explanation too!.

Don't put too much on that happening, it's all been spent on North East Road just past the OG Hotel on the left heading into the city.
Still got some pokies to sell if times get tough though ;)
