so scd is it fit enough to win first up ? & can it win ? i've only just looked at the fields but it is in a weak race scd :wink:

Terrible race.. one I usually don't bet in - those $1200 no better then R1 races are a joke...

All I know is she has been working ok (nothing flash) and they are putting her in the race for a run.. just remember, she is only an average animal at best - she had 15 starts last campaign for 1 win and a handful of placings, so I won't be rushing in...

All I can say to you is DO the form Bayman..

5 starts back barrier 1 beaten 4m by Perfect Trip in 2:02 home in 60 seconds - she parked Love of my life - who ran last and is now a C4 mare...
4 starts back barrier 4 beaten 20m by Lets Sparkle in 2:02 home in 58 seconds
3 starts back barrier 5 beaten 9m by Billy Walton in 2:02 home in 58 seconds
2 starts back barrier 3 beaten 34m by Roses for Cathy in 1:59 home in 60 seconds
last start barrier 10 beaten 47m by Grandiose in 2:00 home in 60 seconds

Can any of these other horses run 2:02 even over 1800m?? Can they run a half in about 59 - 59.5??
She ran 2nd to Arva Ginger (beaten 13m) and beat home Our Connor Mac and then ran 7th to Gigglybits beaten 6m and I don't know if any of these other horses can do that..
BUT she is 1st up and will benefit from the run - she can't do too much work (i.e. she isn't the most strong horse) and she will need some luck from the barrier.. but fingers crossed and i'd expect her to win a proper saturday night race somewhere along the way this prep...

At least Sherwood Ralph Finishes its' races albeit very slowly which is Better than SCDs' hot tip he gave me for Cranbourne Sat night. R9 No6
Our Favourite Girl. Sped out from the mobile in search of the lead and busted up after 150m and pulled up out of the race. :roll:

I'm still hurting over Saturday night.. I don't want to think about it JJ....

The damn horse was about to go straight to the front - it breaks a hopple carrying strap and gets pulled up - I can't help it.. All I can say is follow your money when it draws the front row (esp over a shorter trip) in the near future and you will get your money back on this one...

maybe try a better driver someone like simon jones or david harding that keeps hold of their heads, with wayne hill on, you midas well have scaff on him self! :wink:

Simon Jones??? Scaffidi??? You have got to be kidding haven't you? You can't possibly compare Wayne Hill to either Simmo or Bradley...
Also Simmo is a clearly better driver then Scaffidi also... as I always say.. SCAFFIDI CAN'T DRIVE!!! On Simmo...
Can Simmo put a horse in a good position - YES,
Can Simmo get the horses to run good for him - YES,
Can he get them to stear straight without shifting up the track or hitting wheels - NO!!
BUT At least Wayne Hill can keep the horses running in a straight line...
as for Scaffidi - he overdrives every single animal (can't call some of the things he drives horses!) that he gets on.. just look at Scaffidi's record from barrier 6.. you will find he's been 3 wide the trip (coming out looking for a position) on more then 4 - 5 occasions.. absolute disgrace... at least Wayne commits to going forward or back!

last Friday night at Gawler in its narrow defeat to MIXED WITH A TWIST

Trotting drivers only get about $50 to drive a nag so the $200 is a bit steep

Don't agree with you here Mal - Simmo may win a few races here and there, but no one can be a star in Adelaide.... not unless you are driving over 100 winners in a year!!

I'm not saying Simmo is a bad driver, far from it - in fact i'm happy enough to back what he's driving (SCAFFIDI = BETFAIR) so that says enough, but to wrap him up and say he is a star when we run 30 races and 20 of them are worth less then $2,000.. you have to be joking surely :?:

You can't fine a bloke $200 when you are racing for $1,500.. they get bigger fines in SA then in Vic - where they race for $15,000 on Friday nights (which is $450 to the winning driver) and $4,750 any other night (which is $150 to the winning driver) they have got to be joking themselves to fine a bloke more then 4 times what he can earn for driving a winner.. :roll:

Maybe the stewards are part of the crew that tested positive not to long ago :?:

If you don't have something constructive to say - they why bother making stupid comments like this??

You may think very little of Wayne's driving - but bring examples to the table and not one off drives, but constant poor judgement drives (like Scaffidi from barrier 6 or Simmo and his drifting all over the place and not keeping the horses straight.)
Yes Wayne drives my horse and I'm a little biased, but I agree he's not as skilled as Ryan Hryhorec or a David Harding - but you can't seriously compare him to Simmo or Scaffidi as a driver.... I think it's maybe your hands wandering on this topic - not Wayne's...

i've plenty of thing constructive to say, because wayne gets a stack more drives than somone like simon jones or danielle hill, plus jones is just starting out in the game, with massive protential, lets look at their strike rates,

Mark Webster- 81 drives, 34 wins, 1 in 2.3 win
David Harding- 399 drives, 86 wins, 1 in 4.6 win
Danielle hill-182 drives(67 less than wayne), 31 wins, 1 in 5.8 win
Wayne hill- 249 drives, 31 wins, 1 in 8 win
Ryan Hryhorec- 280 drives, 32 wins, 1 in 8.7 win
Simon Jones-39 drives, 3 wins, 1 in 13 win(not bad for someone starting out without a stable behind him)
(stats from may 07 harness racer)

SCD i think your a dreamer rating wayne hill and ryan so high!!!!!!!!! if you had a choice for your horse why wouldnt you put a stable driver with a better strike rate on? or try mark webster or david harding?

I would of thought steering was a vital part of the driving vocation

Gee whiz - only taken 10 posts.. but something constructive... amazing :!:

I don't rate strike rates in harness racing as highly when it comes to driving as I do the trainers... Mark Webster drives his own horses and for Toby Ryan that's it.. and yes in the past 12 months they've both had their horses gone super.. Up to May 07 - horses like
Urjokin (10 wins for Boof from 22 starts)
Our Connor Mac (8 wins from 18 starts)
Endered that you can win on in SA - with 5 out of 6.. and
Roseworthy Lad with 6 from 11
so we have a total of 29 out of those 34 races from 57 starts, so it's 5 wins from the other 24 starts on the more average runners, which while a good strike rate, it probably more reflective of Boof's driving ability! rather then this win in 2.3 drives when he is driving $1.20 favourites every week.. I don't see him driving horses like Kazco, Sheez Made Magic, Sweet Chilli, Hickipicker, Unohow and Village Lord like Wayne Hill does!

I actually do have a choice for my horse, between the other owners and I we have asked where possible to have Wayne drive our horse... I think Danni drives good and has driven my horses really good the times she has driven, but we as a group of owners are happy for Wayne to drive and it was a decision made by all of us.

Simon Jones - i don't doubt he's doing a good job starting out in the industry - but he isn't a star like Mal and you seem to be making him out to be.. potential doesn't make someone good.. it just means they possibly have a future! but I do agree he has done a good job with 3 wins with the lack of oportunities..

You're entitled to think i'm a dreamer, i'll take that as a complement to my creative thinking - but the challenge is out there for you now - lets see you start to do previews for each meeting like Bayman and I do.. if you really are "smarter then simmo" then i'm sure you will be picking the winner of each race...

Agree S/Rates are not a true reflection
Guys Like Terry HAYSE is a good driver but has to steer 20/1 + most times
JONES drives a lot of big priced horses which murders his S/rate
The HILL clan are good drivers in my opinion
HARDING is sensational, but gets a lot of caviar drives
HYRHOREC is the most improved driver in the state
I think there are a couple of cowboys out there as well [none of the above]

Who wins the brownlow - well not Mark Webster or Simon Jones!!
Brownlow is the bloke with the most votes at the end of the season, not the best strike rate...
David Neitz could play 10 games and get 20 votes (avg 2 votes per game) - because no one can take votes off him in a shit team
Chris Judd could play 22 games and get 33 votes (avg 1.5 votes per game) - more consistant over a season and gets votes where plenty of others can take them off him

Would you consider on strike rates David Neitz to be better then Judd?? HELL NO!!! well

In the trots example -

David Neitz = Mark Webster.. only driver for himself and Toby Ryan and both very good trainers
David Harding = Chris Judd.. gets drives from everywhere and drives winners for a lot of different people...

would you then think Mark Webster is better then David Harding.. no way - Just remember
trainers strike rates - great guide to getting winners
drivers strike rates - you're only as good as the aniMal your driving
