Portland should have forfeited the game with only 15 starting players

They only had 13 players at the opening bounce. By rights it should have been called then. They ended up playing with 12 by the last quarter. I know the coach would play on his own rather than forfeit. To the guys credit they still put their hand up and had a crack. That sort of margin would be expected with the numbers they had. Plympton earlier in the year were a good outfit. As the season has gone on they have improved. You would expect that sort of margin and the way the game was played (as i was told) witht he numbers the C grade had. Extremely dissapointing result for the guys as i know they just want to have a kick and enjoy their footy. The C grade were great through the year having some wins on the board and in the end just sitting out of the 5. Some work to do for next year. Even bigger task this week against the top of the table Athelstone.

We have worked extremely hard after on our image and perception after seeing the report given by the league earlier in the year regarding suspensions etc. This has been a blight on our club when we are really looking forward to bigger and better things. This by no way should reflect on any other player at the club or the officials. The umps have a hard enough time getting through a game lately and this is no exception. The C grade have had a hard trot this year and thius doesnt help. Hopefully the last game can be played in great spirits as there is a little rivalry between Portland and Athelston after last year. Good luck to both teams and those heading into finals.
