SANFL article suggests he doesnt have the fitness level Centrals demand. Which is understandable due to their large home ground, maybe he would be better suited at a smaller ground?

Yep, that the Gowans have retired.

I don't think any dogs fans would be "happy" to see a player as good as Boyd leave, but decisions to let blokes as good as he is move on are not taken lightly. I have no doubt Roy and the club have made the decision in the best long term interests of the club.

Agreed. What do you think, H78?

Have to agree. We would have got him too if the Dogs hadn't agreed to pay South 40K for him! We couldn't match that amount plus his contract $ was right up there.
Centrals won't be getting anywhere near those $ this time around as they don't want the guy, which makes him even more attractive for rival clubs.
The Eagles don't have anyone with his set of skills & speed packaged to play right in our midfield, although they will probably play young guys or Magpie players with the current mids.
If they can talk Mieklejohn into coming across Port Rd. for one last fling at a flag, that will certainly help ;)
I'd take Gray all day every day before Boyd, but with the PAP Smears likely to snap him up with $ and sweet promises, Boyd would be worth the effort IF and only if, Godden could personally get along with him!
The Eagles definitely have the biggest need for him out of all the finals teams and if he's prepared to embrace the coach/ players and new challenge, it's a winner.
We have the money in the cap and certainly need a few decent name players to add to an average list. Frankly, we were miles and miles away from Norwood without Vince, Redden, Smith and Mitchell that made the premiers look second rate earlier in the season.
Boyd won't solve our midfield issues but he would be a solid choice to start out turning a weakness into a strength........ finally

The Dogs payed $39k.

Boyd would find it hard to fit in at the Eagles. They already have one of his type there at present and the two of them would find it very hard to be their together.

I think you mean Angus Poole, well he's not as quick and is still to be a certain starter. He's just a kid with a hell of a lot to learn and that will be fast tracked by having much better similar type players around him.
We are going to need some Aged Carers for Powell don't forget

It's time Michael Godden sat down and had a couple of bottles of red with Boyd, find some common ground, and work out a nice little deal 8)

Surely Roy was the key one voting and then declares his performances no good at end of season? If it's an onfield issue then you don't poll like that in a B & F. If it's a fitness issue you train that and get an even better player next year.
Is there a major off field issue that is the real reason? Buyer beware?

No, Roy is not the key one voting. It's a club award voted on by various people at the club. The coaches award is labelled as such.

Not sure if it had much to do with it but bulldog2004 will be able to confirm that at the central north reserves final all the dogs league players were sitting together on one side of the ground while Boyd and his girlfriend both sat by themselves on the other side of the ground.

I wasn't there but a few mates did say at the time it looked a bit strange
