Hope not.

He is definitely coming to South Australia, with his partner being deployed to the Edinburgh RAAF Base...

I guess the highest bidder will win...

From the officials ins/outs thread:
Press releases for umpires now....

JK wrote:Veteran South Australian National Football League field umpire Tony Dey, 35, has decided to pack away the uniform and put away the whistle.

Dey began his career in umpiring at the Port Adelaide White Zone, SASFA School Panel in 1991. As a young boy, Dey used to abuse the umpires on the side lines so his parents thought it would be a good idea for him to see the other side of the fence.

Dey made his league debut umpiring at Adelaide Oval in 1999; South Adelaide took on Central District.

Dey has gone on to umpire 273 SANFL League games with 3 League Grand Finals.

In 2009, Dey won the highest achievement for an SANFL League field umpire, the Golden Whistle. The Golden Whistle goes to the best SANFL field umpire who consistently performs in the key areas of umpiring throughout the season.

Umpiring is not always about the game of football, it is about the friends that you meet along the way.

“Mateship and the game of football is what kept me going, the guys that you meet along the way, a lot of guys will be lifelong friends,’’ Dey said.

The achievement of going up grades; a sign of improvement and the tough games are what kept Dey umpiring.

“Whenever you go up a grade, it was always fantastic, but the 2009 Grand Final will always stick with me as the highlight,’’ Dey said.

“The most memorable match would be Port against Norwood at Alberton Oval, it was a massive shoot out, conditions were fantastic for football, the final score was 21 goals to 23 and fights happening everywhere,” said Dey on what kept him umpiring and the most memorable match that will always stick with him.

Dey’s inspirations and those who have been there along the way have always been family and friends.

“Mum and dad, family have always been there and it was coming to watch me when I was younger,’’ Dey said.

‘’For my league career it was my wife, Michelle, we were married at a young age so she has always been there.’’

Retiring will be something different for Dey, not having to train daily and the idea of spending time with his young daughter, Mackenzie, 18 months is something to look forward too.

“Spend time with the family, go on a holiday with family and friends and I want to coach; either umpiring or football, I’m not sure,” Dey said when asked what was next on his agenda.

He would have been perfect for the Gays had they not already signed up a mini league coach ;)

The injury set back didn't help his AFL career, especially when he missed most of his first season due to injury and wasn't able to find his way onto the field until this year. Hopefully he can find his way onto another AFL list . . . . after having a great season at Norwood ;)

I liked the look of Forster the year he was drafted, wanted AFC to pick him up. Hopefully they give him a crack, silky mover and good user of the footy!

Happy Carcass Day! It's the first day that former Magpie players can officially sign with other clubs. Looking forward to a flurry of announcements surrounding the Magpies top 10 from last seasons B & F. Only so many fake jobs they can manufacture to hold a few.

Great to see MacLeod back at the club, while Rose has also signed.

The South Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce two new recruits-Matthew Rose and Brent Macleod! Matthew Rose is a 21 year old, 181cm recruit from The Port Adelaide Football Club. He played 50 games for Port and kicked 30 goals. Rose is Midfielder/Forward.

Brent Macleod is a 185cm Midfielder. He played for South Adelaide in 2011. Macleod comes from Tuggeranong Hawks that moved to Canberra from the Geelong region to play in the NEAFL. Brent was awarded the 2013 NEAFL NAB Rising Star Award for his break out season in the Eastern Conference competition this year.

Or back home to the NT where he and his missus (I think he still has the same one) come from.

NT Thunder would have contacted him already.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Sam Gray going to be Rookied by Port Power, meaning the Eagles are likely to miss out on a good recruit...

Also mentions that former Magpies players Zane Kirkwood and Kory Beard close to signing with Sturt...

Port Adelaide swoops on Magarey Medal runner-up Sam Gray

PORT Adelaide wants Magarey Medal runner-up Sam Gray.

It is understood the Power has all but made a commitment to select the talented midfielder at this month's AFL rookie draft.

Gray, who was favourite for this year's Magarey Medal before being upstaged by former Power midfielder Matt Thomas, has been invited to train with Port when it resumes training on November 18.

The 21-year-old was believed to be close to switching from the Port Magpies to Woodville-West Torrens before being told of his likely AFL selection by the Power.

"We haven't made a final commitment to Sam but there's every chance we'll look at taking him with a rookie pick,'' Power football operations manager Peter Rohde said.

"He's committed to train with us and we think he has some very good qualities which will stand him in good stead at the next level.

"But there's a bit of water to go under the bridge yet.''

This year's rookie and pre-season drafts will be held earlier than usual on November 27 - just six days after the national draft.

Rohde suggested the 176cm Gray, who is dangerous around goal, could have several AFL suitors, leaving the club to play a cat-and-mouse game with him.

It is possible Gray could even be selected with a late national draft pick.

Gray trained with the Power prior to last year's draft before being overlooked.

He is an even better player this time around, having enjoyed a standout season with the Magpies and earning selection in the The Advertiser SANFL Team of the Year.

Rohde said Port would have "four or five'' SANFL players train with the club before the national draft but was still finalising the list.

Meanwhile, two of Gray's Magpies teammates, Kory Beard and Zane Kirkwood, are understood to be close to signing with Sturt.

Like Gray, the pair were selected in The Advertiser Team of the Year and would represent recruiting coups for the Double Blues.

With Matt Rose from the magpies being one of the first to officially sign at another club, I wonder how many others will follow suit. I'm guessing most players would want to find homes in the next couple of weeks.

[quote="Big Phil"]Sam Gray going to be Rookied by Port Power, meaning the Eagles are likely to miss out on a good recruit...

And this is the problem with the eagles. There have been quite a few occasions over the years where we have targeted a recruit, got close to sign him, only to see him snapped up by the AFL in the draft leaving us with........nothing.

We should not have been targeting Gray. Yes he is a great player but it was more than likely he was AFL bound. Meanwhile, other really good Port players who are good at SANFL but probably not good enough for AFL (e.g. Kirkwood) have been targeted by other clubs and will be signed. So we miss out yet again. Who is your Plan B eagles? No excuses.

the key to recruiting is to recruit those players who are fairly dominant in other leagues but are just not AFL bound

Mr Fuller, Give us a break. Let's wait for the signings before you criticize!!!!. The last 7 years have been bad but a bit of optimism, Mate, that we've learnt from our mistakes!!
At least we surely must get a medical record this time. Record is not good there either.
Signed Hentschel - almost ? no games due to knee.
Signd Welsh - played 2-3 then injury stopped him
Signed Tiller - played very few games due to injury then retired early
Signed Eddy - knowing that he would miss the first half season- no good anyway thereafter.
Signed Kirk - doesn't play a game for the Eagles before retiring.
Sad that the Club puts in the "the hard yards" trying to raise money and then throws it away in the recruiting department like millionaires.

But negativity gets you nowhere at this point of the year - tis the Season to be .............!!! Get negative in March after you've seen them!!!

Hard to stay positive when we have got such an appalling track record of recruiting

When chatting to Slaven earlier in the year about whether the eagles would support a power/crows reserves team one of the reasons Slaven indicated he would be voting 'yes' was because the eagles would be in a good position to snare the cream of the current port magpies team. Well not sure who they are targeting now but if all the rumours turn out to be correct we will left with no one.

Given we don't recruit interstate hard to see us pulling any other quality midfielder from any other club

They have to actually draft him! I don't trust them. They promise to draft Gray so he doesn't sign with Eagles or any other SANFL team and then the Power don't draft him and he has to play for the Power Magpies Reserves. Surprise!

This is Port were talking about, they have lots of runs on the trust scoreboard don't they.

Well given all club wait to finalise recruits until after the pre-season draft I'm sure if Port fail to draft him there will be at least half a dozen SANFL clubs able to squeeze him in
