Same. As soon as I get some sort of meaningful savings, bills just take me back down to $0.

ditto, fortnightly B-payments quite often mean I don't actually have a bill to pay when it comes in.

Why would you give them your money before they require it. Why not put it aside in your own account and then have it ready to pay?

Not a silly idea but I guess the temptation is still there to drain the account and spent it on pointless shit

I would like to do that, but I dont trust the bastards to bill me correctly after I've already paid them money.
I set out payment plans for 5 weekly payments after the due date. But start paying it as soon as I receive the bill. So its usually spread over 8 payments.
We're expecting our first $1000 bill after that heat wave.

We pay our gas and electricity bills on fortnightly b-pay and have got one if not both to a stage where they are actually in credit We get notified if/when there is any change to the amount we pay due to changes in usage

Because I'd spend it on cocaine, hookers and cologne.

I add up all my bills over a year and divide them by 13 or 52 or whatever and pay a fortnightly amount into a separate bank account. Then when the bills come in there is money in the account to pay for them. Sometimes there might only be a couple hundred bucks in the account, other times there could be 3 to 4 grand. Just depends if they all come at once. Works for us.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

No such thing as "aside" in my account at the minute. Works better for me this way.

That's what I do, each pay I send some of it to an online "high" interest account, and pay bills from there. Obviously the interest earned isn't huge, but better in my pocket than someone else's
