Even though I never used to watch it, surely it rates higher than repeats of mash or something

I recall early in the season it was live as I flicked between the footy and rugby, but perhaps not enough were watching. Wouldn't mind watching the Penrith finals.
yep game 1 was live and then obviously a delayed telecast of the 2nd match
it was good flicking between the AFL and League, especially when the Broncos were on

Rugby has been shown live on Channel 10 in the last month Great win by the Wallabies over the Springboks too!

Well, anyone complaining about Tim Ginevar surely didn't have to sit through Basil Zempalis' tortured Shawshank Redemption comparison of Buddy Franklin on Saturday.
I thought the SANFL commentary was reasonable on Saturday night.

Bruce and Denis are the only two play by play guys on ch7 who actually can do play by play.

Re: Channel 7 announced by SANFL as preferred telecast partn
Wasn't sure whether to put this here or the Adelaide Oval thread.
One thing that's annoying at the games (SANFL Finals anyway) is the big screen replays. Large portions of the crowd watch the replays regularly, and just as they're showing a play and it's leading up to a pivotal moment (good mark, goal, iffy free kick, whatever) they pan to a pigeon on a pole or a group of people in the crowd and leave it on them until they notice.
Don't mind them doing all that rubbish if they want, just not at the expense of the action.

Re: Channel 7 announced by SANFL as preferred telecast partn
Would be great to see our Grand Final at least shown in to Victoria as it used to be. Nationally is probably a big call, though I know there is a decent SANFL following in the NT who I guess have missed out this year.
Have not been able to find any ratings for the games this weekend just gone unfortunately. MediaWeek usually tweets state Football ratings from both the ABC and for 7mate, but not this weekend.
Just on the NRL, it was simply a case of the ratings on Gem being so poor that they could not possibly have left it there in prime time. They had little choice but to bury it in their overnight schedule.

The Grand Final will be shown on Seven's main channel live into Adelaide from 2:30pm then replayed on 7mate at 5:30pm.
There's no indication that it'll be shown on any interstate Seven channels.

Looks like the VFL will be going from ABC to C7 now, as well...

Re: Channel 7 announced by SANFL as preferred telecast partn
Yesterday's preliminary final telecast on 7mate achieved an average audience of 56 thousand viewers. Remember that number takes in the lead up and post match. Would be interested to see a peak audience figure, but don't have that information. Goes well for a very decent figure for the Grand Final telecast on Seven's main channel on Sunday afternoon!
Would be interested to see ratings for previous SANFL Grand Finals!
Thanks to @MediaWeekaus for the figures!

It feels quite odd with the grand final not being played on the long weekend

But Ch 7's television schedule still indicates that they are unable to squeeze in the grannie nationally. They're running with a repeat of 'Japanese Tsunami: Caught on Camera' on 7Mate, and a 4½ hour repeat marathon of Million Dollar Minute on 7Two, as their national programming. 'Cos they will rate so much higher than a footy grand final in late September.matt35 wrote:Yesterday's preliminary final telecast on 7mate achieved an average audience of 56 thousand viewers. Ch 7's agreement with the SANFL was to only broadcast the game live outside of SA if it did not clash with the 1957 movie "Doctor At Large".

Quite right too.
Dirk Bogarde is a legend.
Port should recruit him

I believe Jason Akermanis would say we're not ready for that sort of thing yet.

The Port Power Football Club (plus Reserves Club) Media Release
Despite intense speculation The Port Power Football Club (plus Reserves Club) wishes to advise it has not appointed Dirk Bogarde to the role of official Kerchief & Brylcreem Consultant.
Club spokesman John Inman said earlier today 'We're very happy with the performance of Corey Wingard in this vital area of our club and any rumours that Mr Bogarde has been appointed by The Port Power Football Club (plus Reserves Club) is erroneous'
Chairman David Koch added 'could someone please notice me now?'
'People are not stupid. They know when they are being conned. And two reserves teams operating in a League competition will reduce it to a farce, a competition without a soul.'

Ratings are in for yesterday's Grand Final: Source, MediaWeek.
The coverage between 2:30 and 5:30 had an average audience of 129 thousand viewers.
Would be interested to know what the peak audience was and also how that compares to previous SANFL Grand Finals!
