Good points!

Have just got on Siddle most wickets first innings for Aus, have a theory

That was one of the reasons I always though Smith could make it at test level. Like Michael Clarke from day 1 he was able to walk into first class cricket and perform straight away, no hot or cold form just continually knocking out runs in all forms of state level no matter the circumstances, class above

Ryan Carters is the next one in the same bracket

Agree, two completely different style batsmen

In all seriousness I can't think of any with a technique like Smith, he is extremely original.

Could he make the jump to number 3 in our batting order

if anything Steve Smith only comparison to a Waugh is to Mark... Technique wise...

No one is like the Great Man....

This is the test series right here

India will not bowl Australia out for less than 350 this series

It all comes downto how they bat and whether they can force the Aussies to declare and give the Indians a shot with the bat

Also was that first over an indication of Johnsons mentality

Not one bouncer against a lineup which is very suss against the short ball

Wouldn't have been many overs in the last 18 months where Mitch hasn't bowled a bouncer

Johnson another over and not one bouncer despite being hit for 3 fours all off the front foot and having a chance dropped

Is it the 'Hughes Impact'

Something I have noticed over Siddles career

He is the worse first over bowler I have ever seen

Take note of Siddles first over of a spell, it's as if he doesn't warmup or he doesn't realise his going to bowl that over

So far this summer his

0/11 (1) in his first over of spells

Good points!

Have just got on Siddle most wickets first innings for Aus, have a theory

?
He will bowl into the breeze in this match
He eats bananas
He bowls ordinary first overs[nice observation]
He bowls well at Adelaide Oval
He is under pressure form Josh Hazelwood
He will bowl a lot of overs because Harris is underdone , MJ in short spells, Lyon wont get pitch assistance until later in the game

So whats the theory ?

Yeah he will bowl a lot of overs imho

Johnson is bowling very kind to the Indians and I feel the whole Hughes tradegy may affect Johnson more than anyone else in world cricket (so far his bowled one short ball in 5 overs and isn't looking to intimidate at all)

Harris- quality bowler but is slightly underdone and will probably bowl the least amount of overs this innings

Lyon- out of form against the world best against spin on a flat pitch, will be lucky to get A wicket

Marsh & Watson- won't bowl enough

I reckon he had a problem with his shoulder a few seasons ago
Might have had an operation
I reckon he was under arming the ball instead of throwing the ball when fielding at that time
Perhaps that might be a reason why he has problems in his first overs ?

Has to come under serious consideration for the next Australian captain. He now justifies his spot in the team as a first choice player, performs and it's under immense pressure.

Possibly a reason to keep Haddin around a bit longer? Just to help smith out.

Of Aussie bowlers to have taken 100 wickets, the two with the best strike rates ever are...

Harris and Johnson.

(Makes Johnson even more impressive given he has 270 wickets at that rate and also bowled pies for half his career haha)

Top bowling Mitch. And that's the value of a short ball. Pushed him back and then got him stuck on he crease
