Civil engineering - when you want to be an engineer but you aren't smart enough to do proper engineering :)

Been through there a bit recently and it is so much better than it used to be - finally civil engineers do something useful :)

Yes it is much better, but if you don't go through often you do sometimes find yourself trying to work out where you turn next which may delay your indicating timing a little.

Civil engineers?
A mate of mine went that route at Adelaide Uni, worked locally for a while then took a job with a London firm. A few years later he left them to start his own company in London and more recently he sold out to a German company he now works for from home as a consultant. He also has a house in Grange here and one near Oxford and lives in endless summer. It looks like he made good choices.

Now hang on a second , civil engineering is the most purist and oldest form of engineering, without us you'd be shitting behind a bush and taking a bucket to the torrens to get your water for the day.

mechanical engineers are just glorified mechanics
electrical engineers are just glorified sparkies
chemical engineers are just glorified distillers.

All other engineers just use the term in lieu of technician.

You can call yourself sparkles if you want.

4 years to learn V=IR and then you get your degree in electrical engineering , enough said.

Thinking that's all there is to electrical engineering is why you are a civil engineer :

I've come along way. I used to be the guy that leans on the shovel but now I'm the third supervisor with six supervisors below me and only two above. A few more years of this and I'll be the guy that taps the clipboard with his pen.
