1197am RPH Adelaide SANFL Coverage

I was interested how they rate that is all. I thought they may be part of the radio ratings completed by listeners as a whole . I think it would be good to know the level of interest on radio as we do the TV.

Which would serve what purpose?

But it will never be accurate because not everyone that listens will respond or is accessible...

Not as simple as it sounds, I'm afraid, otherwise it would be done...

Unlike TV surveys which evolved from a diary system to the OzTam set top box, radio surveys to my understanding are still pretty much the same as they were 20 years, a personal diary system.

The regular surveys are run by Commercial Radio Australia and ONLY commercial radio stations are listed.

They are broken up into very broad timelsots

Weekdays - Breakfast, Morning, Afternoon, Drive, & Evening.

There is also a segment surveyed for Weekends - 5.30am to 12 midnight.
this is not broken down any further to tell who is listening to say commercial footy coverage or how a particular show rates.

So even FIVEaa or TripleMMM could not tell you how many were listening specifically to their footy coverage, only their average weekend audience across those 37 hours each week.

The commercial radio survey does not include community stations.

.So it is can't be done . I thought it may have been part of the radio survey but as it's a community station it isn't.

I know it doesn't give an exact amount of listeners but it would be good to know roughly how many listen.

Even if RPH was part of the radio survey, the SANFL show (8pm-9pm) would be put together with all the others held from 7pm to midnight.

I filled out a radio diary last year, it was broken down into half hour slots.
I'm an old bogan so all my time was filled in to Triple M

There is software that allows you to break down the surveys into time slots. All radio stations use this to find out how their shows are rating. If RPH was included in the survey you would be able to get data on the 8-9pm time slot on Thursday night.

This is not possible with the FIVEaa SANFL show however because it is on at different times each Sunday night. If it was on at the same time each week, we could get the data no problem.

Thanks cennals. I'm sure the station itself would want to know and the SANFL. As a SANFL follower I loved hearing that the ratings blew away the ABC as it meant more exposure.
