2015 Royal Adelaide Show
A yearly guilty pleasure of mine where I take a hungee and blow it on absolute crap. The inner child will never escape and I scan the show bag guide, check the rides list and peruse all the attractions online and in the show guide. As if slightly challenged I still make my show list as well.
Always keen to hear what's hot, what's not, what's free and where all the free metwurst is. My last year at the show without my own child so the tradition has survived at least 5 generations of my family.
"It's Showtime!!!!..... In less than two weeks.

I haven't drank there in about 7 years. Spent $300 that year.
Normally the Yellow Brick Road, Charlesworth nut bag, Bertie beetle and some small goods so I'm not walking out empty handed.

Nope not going, doesn't interest me and will cost me a fortune to take little miss
Took her to the Gawler show as the trade off instead.

Ive never really rated the Show, even as a kid. Would imagine as of next year it'll be time to start taking my lads

How much did that set you back? Never been as a punter but did perform carny duties there one year. From memory its just a smaller version.

Thinking of going on Saturday afternoon depending on the weather. Wood chopping is a must see when I go. Haven't been for about 6 years though...

As a show tragic I wouldn't recommend the Saturday as you are looking at 125,000 plus. That's a lot of bogans and plenty of people who are below the meaty part of the IQ cusp.

Only spent around $150 - was a smaller version indeed, but it was ideal for the daughter (4).
Cost was $45 for a family ticket (2x adults, 3x children), showbags were same price as the Royal show, had some pony and camel rides $10, attractions, market stands etc.. was a good day out actually.
Only thing that pissed me off was face painting - $15.. $15!!! ARE YOU JOKING ME!?!

Not wrong! Gave little miss a tenner while she was waiting to pay, the lady was like 'Oh it's $15'

Re: 2015 Royal Adelaide Show
First thing Sunday morning for us. Kids are old enough to know what it's about now - show bags, rides, sideshows, Dagwood Dogs, hot cinnamon donuts, Dagwood Dogs, hot jam donuts, Dagwood Dogs
I still love it, the smells of the hot food, the blaring music from the rides, the sirens, kids screaming, going through the show bags with the kids when we get home.

Re: 2015 Royal Adelaide Show
would rather save that money up and go to the gold coast and go to the theme parks there (which i have done a couple of times as a childless adult)
i doubt that will change when my kid is born.
I do like the wood chopping and the pig racing though, but other than that it just seems way too expensive for what you get

Yeah Day 2 of the week long event hasn't got me overly keen. Hence why I'm only 40/60 of going.
I've survived 6 years without going so adding to that isn't exactly going to hurt.

Re: 2015 Royal Adelaide Show
I went to the Gawler Show on the weekend just for the novelty factor as it has been about 20 years since I last went to the Royal Adelaide Show.
It was crap, hopefully never again.

Yes indeed, a man who enjoys it as much as me and has come to terms with the fact he will be 2-3 green notes lighter for the experience.
From your list I will be ticking every single one of those boxes except rides as the Mrs is 8 months preggo. Probably give the wood chopping and main arena events a bit more time this year. I dare say she is going to rip the shit out of a junk food juggernaut.

That won't go far at the Gawler Show I thought I have to buy one showbag just because it's unlikely I'll ever go to a show again and as I was lining up to splurge $5 on the Hubba Bubba bag the woman with pram next to me got a handful of bags, that'll be $100 thanks!
