WATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTO ??????
As we can see a lot of these players went on to play for Australia
When players make tons at an early age , often enough it means they have a real ability to play International cricket
I estimate there would be about 100+ cricketers who have achieved the make a ton b4 21 ???????????????????
Ive not posted accurately saying that Head might be one of youngest ever at 21
But b4 21 is still an outstanding effort by any first cricketer

Patterson was 18 when he made his shield century on debut. Hughes at 19 is the youngest to make a century in the Shield final

Darren Lehmann played one game in 1987-88, the full season in 1988-89 and then made his first century against Victoria in Melbourne in December 1989 whilst still a teenager. He went on to make four centuries that season including a double century.
Thanks
Let's hope the floodgates now open for Travis Head in a similar fashion
This is Tony Clifton! A name to respect! A name to fear!

Made a huge score in a Grade Grand final about that time IIRC?

Was that the final against Port?
I've heard stories from a few of the Port boys who played in that game, Salisbury win the toss, bat then proceded to a bat-a-thon....
Fair side Salibury had back then: Fielke, Bishop, Lehman, Sleep....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Might have been West Torrens, I think. Lehmann and Bishop piled them on.

Not for Salisbury, possibly he was playing for West Torrens by that point.

Not sure if it was Lehmann but Ash Bishop made 196, Salisbury batted for 2 days amassing about 550, West Torrens had one day to get them, Hookes made 213 i reckon and at one point they were a silly chance, Salisbury took no risk and had 9 fielders on the fence. I remember Sleep bowling to Hookes and Hookes basically put his bat away in protest and just kicked every ball that was bowled to him

A mate of mine played in that game, for Torrens, he speaks about it with dread, quite often.

Didn't he also get run out for about 50 at Adelaide Oval? He was at non-strikers end, quick single, accidentally tripped by Geoff Lawson in his follow through and got run out. Lawson tried to get Greg Dyer to rescind the appeal but he wouldn't.

That's right. I don't think he'd scored a century by then.
Quite controversial at the time - Hookesey carried on (like usual).

Hookesy nearly took on the entire NSW team in the old Cricketers race to the dressing rooms....
Jeez those old Adelaide Oval dressing rooms would have witnessed some incidents over the years....
A former Redbacks coach landed in a bit of hot water over an incident inside when he apparently 'tripped' over someone's kit bag after being dismissed one day....

Re: SA v WA Shield
You've got a bloody good memory if you can remember him not having scored a ton!!
Can't really remember if there was any fall-out against Dyer, but Lawson was definitely above-board.
