Is that the Australian Women's Football United League?

I don't recall any news stores on mainstream news media about North Adelaide's second consecutive year of $300,000 plus profits, or better still Sturt who I understand recently turned a profit from a loss last year (I stand to be corrected on that) through some savvy cost-cutting and raising funds via the selling of picket fences at Unley Oval. These stories deserve at least some oxygen in the football media landscape.

We were promised Increased Media Exposure as one of the key reasons for selling out to the eastern league.

Well, we sure got it.

Mind you, could be worse - imagine Soders and Tim Ginever trying the read their way through a financial statement?

What astounds me is how much some of these clubs that make bad losses spend. Spend what you can afford!

Yep some of them want to dine out on caviar when they should be sticking to two minute noodles.

It's ok if they spend and create either on field success ( Norwood ) or off field success ( North ) but if they spend and only end up with timber cutlery, well.....

But what if they bought these? Dining room success 1974 style, if you ask me. ;)

Mum had some on her wall in the 00's still. Next to the duck plates, they're gone now. I could stand it no more.

Pardon the slight tangent, but did anyone see the report on Seven news last night which was along the lines that the SANFL was 'under pressure' regarding a regulation was preventing young kids from playing footy, with Lucy Cornes weighing in on the debate (presumably her input catapulted it to an officially 'newsworthy' item)? There was an image of a Facebook post from Mrs Cornes on the topic (again, raising the credibility stakes).

I only saw a snippet on a news-break. Just curious if it's a 'real' 'story' or Channel Seven exercising its ongoing commitment to 'promoting' the SANFL.

It'd be about the SANFL moving in on the organisation of junior footy, I'm assuming.

I'm not aware of what's proposed, what would be the issues (if any)?

WIthout seeing it I suspect it is about the minimum age of kids playing under 8's footy, AFL have changed it that kids need to be 7 by 30/4 each year to play club footy. If they aren;t that age they need to stick to Auskick (which makes the AFL more $ surprisingly) but opens the threat of kids going to other sports that accept kids at the lower age bracket.

This another area where soccer is making more and more grounds, the rise of grasshopper soccer is massive at the moment which starts for children as young as 2 (yes soccer has always had great junior participation numbers) but with the growth of the A-League, the increasingly more easy access to the EPL and all the games, i would expect them junior numbers to start to equate to senior numbers, fans through the doors etc.

I can honestly see soccer making a lot of growth in the next ten years. It will never truly compete with the AFL but i can see it becoming popular enough that it will be another final straw to the state league competitions which can barely afford to lose a single fan.
