Have they and some of us got only the will power and moral strength of the average 5 year old?

What next, "I didn't mean to murder anyone officer, it was just an oversight, so I should be let off. No-one else has ever expected me to be responsible!"

LOL. Take the long steel rod out of your rectum and add some shades of grey to your black and white views.

Mate the more people I meet the more B&W my views become - except in who to barrack for! 8)

I don't actually know anyone socially who gets drunk ever, or uses Marijuana or other drugs, or who thinks it is OK to give their word and then ignore it, and I haven't known any for 20 years. Some of my acquaintances [including me] will admit to having tried some of this in the past, but none liked actually relinquishing self-control and dignity, and gave it up rather than themselves.

Despite the cries of those who think being often drunk and feral is normal, it isn't. Studies suggest about 15% of the population are into it, but they tend to congregate around clubs and pubs that help them find each other and reassure themselves they are "normal".

I wonder if the consequences were set when the curfew was.
Do you think if the players were aware that their misdemeanors would cost internal suspension, they would have shown more care in their actions?
Or would they have thought twice about owning up???

Nah...it just contradicts stuff being discussed in the media this week in regards to alcohol realted brain injuries, which are growing as more and more people are drinking more and more alcohol.

As far as I have heard they knew the penalty before hand - that would make sense you wouldn't set a strict curfew and not discuss a penalty

That's why I think it's good they owned up

yeah, fair point Hondo.
Brave decision from all three players to own up if the consequences were set.
If it were me, and i was 20 minutes late home, there is no way i would own up and miss a game.

They were drunk? I was under the impression they were 20 minutes late. You don't lose self-control once the clock strikes a particular time, unless they are werewolves, in which case I would agree with you.

Neil Craig set off a dramatic reaction when he told Ben Hudson he was suspended for the next game.

I think that's part of the point of a curfew - it doesn't matter if they were drunk or not at 1.20AM, in principle when you are out that late temptation gets harder and harder to resist and before you know it it's 6AM. So a curfew might stop the players even going out in the first place, then they avoid those type of situations altogether.

Besides, Benny was 1 hour over curfew from what I have heard.

Most of the dodgy incidents this season across the AFL seem to be 3AM/4AM alcohol related acts of stupidity - that's when the fights start, etc

Why does drinking or taking drugs automatically result in giving up self control and dignity?

You obviously aren't doing it properly Danny.

I have absolutely no control when drunk. Part of the joy!

Source?

I read the article about 2 weeks ago on a medical website - I'll post it if I can find it again. There was also one about even occasional use of Marijuana increasing the risk of developing Schizophrenia from the world wide average of 0.8% into the 3 to 6% range. I'll see if I can re-find and post that too. This stuff rolls past me every week as I follow up research.

Don't normally forward these things on, but just got a message from a good mate (who is usually very reliable) that Roo will be announcing his retirement at 4pm today
