I agree with Cook, Root, Bairstow, Stokes, Ashwin, Herath and Starc being in the team. Kohli ahead of Voges. I really like Williamson but there's guys ahead of him with more runs so he probably shouldn't be in starting eleven, Smudge ahead of him for mine. IMO Warner shouldn't be in there, averaging 35.52 for the year he hasn't had a great year with only the one century and two fifties. Azhar Ali is the best performing opening batsman apart from Cook with 950 runs @52.77 in 10 tests. Don't understand why Steyn is in the team, he played three test matches in 2016, I'd have Broad in for him.

The chosen Top 8 in 2016 :

David Warner - 10 matches - 18 innings - 604 runs @ 35.52

Alistair Cook - 17 matches - 33 innings - 1270 runs @ 42.33

Kane Williamson - 10 matches - 18 innings - 753 runs @ 47.06

Joe Root - 17 matches - 32 innings - 1477 runs @ 49.23

Adam Voges - 8 matches - 13 innings - 457 runs @ 38.08

Johnny Bairstow - 17 matches - 29 innings - 1470 runs @ 58.80

Ben Stokes - 12 matches - 21 innings - 904 runs @ 45.20

Ravi Ashwin - 12 matches - 14 innings - 612 runs @ 43.71

Unlucky perhaps :

Virat Kohli - 12 matches - 18 innings - 1215 runs @ 75.93

Moen Ali - 17 matches - 29 innings - 1078 runs @ 46.86

Azhar Ali - 10 matches - 20 innings - 950 runs @ 52.77

Steve Smith - 10 matches - 17 innings - 914 runs @ 60.93

The period that team is chosen on isn't a 2016 calender year. It was quoted Voges averages 80+ in the time frame & Kohli in the 40's

Kohli's series against Eng just gone comes into next year ICC team of year selection.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Plenty of rain forecast in Melbourne for the duration of the Test, believe showers heading in mid afternoon today

Took the draw at $5.60 a couple of days ago.

Hazelwood has it on a string at the moment. Bowled some absolute gems already

IMO they should've mothballed Bill when Tony fell off the perch

Just commentates to a formula gets excited on cue, Leg slips are still used in modern cricket Bill

FMD.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

x2. Easily the best of the current commentators, although that would not be difficult.

Some good bowling from Hazelwood and Bird and some very slow batting from Ali got Australia right on top

Pakistan 4/125 after 48 overs
