******* dickheads, how do I go to the footy and Grinspoon at the same time?
If you want to go quickly, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.

Re: Round 23
Reckon the AFL are crystal balling what implications each game may have, thereby trying to maximise interest and excitement. Sunday's games potentially have 4 teams playing for top spot, a top 4 spot, and also a top 8 spot.

Absolute joke. As Beef said, with the bye before finals, no reason why they can't have this out with the other fixtures.
Then they go and give Hawthorn & the Bulldogs the Friday night game when 1 is 50/50 for the 8 and the other team just about mathematically out of the race. Seriously, what is the point of this floating fixture. Brisbane & North get a Sat arvo game as well. I wouldn't have an issue with how these games line up if it was done with the other fixtures but this just totally doesn't make sense.

I know what I would pick, playing Gold Coast wouldn't be a hard act to follow.

It does as the teams more likely to play finals would prefer to play as late as possible on the weekend with there being a bye before finals. Teams unlikely to make the finals would want to get their last game done and dusted asap.

Re: Round 23
I think it makes no difference and once the pre-finals bye was introduced it's been pointless.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.

True, i just don't see the point of having a floating fixture anymore. Just makes no sense to me

Re: Round 23
I agree, it does make a little bit of difference but obviously not as much as before, only other thimg would be to maximise ratings like the NRL all the time.

I think they should scrap the bye and everyone play in their home state in round 23.

Not a bad idea, wouldn't work though as the AFL wouldn't allow a Showdown, Derby, Q Clash, Bridge or whatever it is called clash, all in the same round. Plus there would be at least 1-2 blockbusters in the all Vic games

Re: Round 23
Maybe they could go back to not having a bye, having the final round published at the start of the season and every club just deal with it.
