It's a disgrace that this is even considered an issue worth thinking about
Fix Indigenous reconciliation and close the gap before we consider gay marriage FFS!
Agree about the indigenous issue. But that needs a referendum to change. I would be happy for that to occur at the next election.
But a gay marriage bill would pass tomorrow. There is a private members bill introduced. All the Libs need to do is allow a conscience vote on the issue and it will pass.
A plebiscite is just ridiculous and expensive but is the only politically acceptable method to the hard right nutters.
Being a very unpolitical person due a massive level of distrust of all of the people/groups involved I can honestly say that as a Christian man I have absolutely no issue with the changes that will allow same sex marriage.
This is a number of issues that need to be fixed and this is just one of many...
I do wonder though if there was a vote on same sex marriage that was supposed secret ballot, how many people would vote against same sex marriage, Ilis there a higher proportion of people who would vote against than the polls indicate because they can vote without being labelled as a redneck, bigot etc Etc...

What a wicked, massive waste, the Govt should be utterly ashamed of itself.
Well big Mal cant make the call as the he will lose the more conservative sections of the liberal and nationals and then in all likely hood lose the leadership.
Read my reply. It is directed at you because you have double standards

Yep. Spending 100 million to save his skin.
Mal should just put his hand in his pocket and pay for it himself, probably chump change for him.

Interesting question and I think your views on it sum it up. A Christian man who has no issues with SSM, suggests people like me who don't identify as being of faith and a small portion of those that do can't see the problem. I think it would get across in a landslide. That being one reason, the other being a message from Joe Public to the pollies to stop ******* around and get on with it.

I would hope that it would get over the line, however when people can vote in private strange things happen... People don't want to be labelled so they may tend to tow the popular line, however they may privately disagree...
Whatever happens, it's not my place to judge other people, except when it comes to Essendon, they can get stuffed...
well if these spineless wimps are having a vote about a non issue then perhaps they will ask the people next time they want to send troops into a war zone

Pretty simple, come up with a suitable name besides marriage, the Christians, the non Christians, the lovers, the fighters, the left, the right, the middle, will all be happy and it wont cost a cent.
I wish my remembering was as good as my forgetting
