I am petty sure you are right Jim (RE VFL).

Meanwhile, previous club champion Brede Seccull has gained a job in melbourne and looks certain to leave.

Is your little brother mentality with Bays coming to fore, again?

Trying to see if you can keep up with us with respect to who can have the most "outs"??
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Certainly not.

However, Cody Ellison has now left.

What's going on DOC !!!!?? Is the SANFL imposed salary cap restrictions hitting hard at South therefore we can no longer retain or recruit players, if so, what's the point of it all, lock the doors hand the keys over the bank, walk away and let's all reflect of the great memories of a once great football competition and wonderful club :( .

Just out of interest what penalties did the SANFL enforce on you cap wise?
I remember reading about it the time, was tied to your off field position and a unhealthy budget am I correct?

Three clubs have around a 15% salary cap reduction

Increased dividend is the reason

Correct. South, West and Glenelg.

The SANFL think that by making their playing stocks weaker it will help them recover financially, by winning less games and drawing fewer people to their games.

Other leagues give extra points to help clubs improve but the SANFL take the help away to hinder improvement even more

-also less foot traffic through their licensed premises and that should help boost the bottom line....

Oh, the "make a profit or pay" regulation?
A bit like the council taking chairs away from a Cafe that isn't making enough money.
Surely this policy would result in a downward spiral. Taking away the tools a club needs to run its business, because business is hard.
Is there anyone out there who can adequately explain this policy?

Meanwhile, a certain eastern-suburbs club keeps on incurring salary cap infringements but, because they changed their vote to 'yes' over a certain action a few years ago, keep on getting favourable treatment!!! We sure do have an unfair system in the SANFL at times.

We may be beating you both: currently 16 players are 'outs' from our 2017 squad, mainly reserve competition players, but we will certainly miss a few: Glenn, Jansen, Edmead, Prior, Waldhuter, Collier, Broadwood et al.

I heard a whisper not too long ago that a certain club infringed the cap again in 2017. I have been waiting for the story to break but it hasn't yet.
DId you hear a similar whisper BDP?

Unbelievable penalties on South, West and Glenelg. Hard to fathom. If 3/8ths of the clubs are deemed unable to manage 100% payments of the salary cap then surely they just reduce it for all clubs given the entire point is to make a fair competition? Oh, wait a minute... never mind, carry on.

TBH even though it effects my club I understand the logic, clubs need to live within their means. If paying less in the salary cap makes you work harder in junior development it’s a win win situation. Many imports from these three clubs have come in, taken the money and done little for the club then run. O’Brein, Mc Bean just to name a couple

We heard the same one. Uncle Joe's paper bags seem to still be making the rounds.

Cap is $350k isn't it? 15% reduction is $52.5k, for footy clubs that turn over $3-$4m each year I'm not sure it impacts their end result much.

Try 2-3 Mill Dutchy, Glenelg is certainly closer to 2.
