Re: Lokan sacked
The comment that Lokan would be accessing more 'elite' medical expertise in an AFL club is just not correct and insulting to the GFC medical staff. I doubt whether the level of 'medical' expertise accessed in an AFL club is in any way superior to that being utilised in an SANFL club. Both have people with the same qualifications, experience and commitment. Sports medicine is sports medicine regardless of whether it's at AFL or SANFL level. For example, we utilise the same sports physicians, specialists and sports medicine practice that Port Adelaide use. It would be highly unlikely that those practitioners would be giving Sturt players different treatment and medical advice to that the Port Adelaide players receive.

Bit rich for everyone to all of a sudden be up in arms about a "contract" being broken in football circles.
He wants to develop as a coach so he has gone into a system where he gets more mentoring, more resources, more access to elite standards of training, conditioning, medical etc. etc.
An AFL club just gives more scope for him to learn from experienced coaches rather than being the #1 with noine to learn from.

Quite frankly if he want's that, he should've gone to Sturt
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I do get quite annoyed at this total misconception that AFL clubs somehow possess medical knowledge and expertise that is superior to that provided at SANFL level. Every SANFL club have people (Sports Trainers; Physiotherapists, Doctors and Specialists) within their medical structures that would quite easily fit into any AFL club. This whole 'AFL clubs are better' mantra with regard to medical is a total nonsense. I'm sure the specialists at Sportsmed don't reconstruct ACL's any different in an AFL player than they do a SANFL player and nor is their rehabilitation and progress overseen by SANFL club physios and S&C staff any different.

Fair point there Knowledge. I will take you at your word, because it looks to make sense.
I guess the misconception is probably borne from the fact that professional clubs have the luxury of being able to provide the time for players to recuperate, whereas SANFL clubs cannot afford to pay their players for time they may miss from work because they have a stiff calf or whatever. I would say that the facilities and equipment provided by the AFL clubs would surely dwarf what the SANFL clubs have access to also. Please correct me if I am wrong on that.

While I can't speak for other clubs our (Sturt) medical equipment and resources are at the very least equal to or better than AFL clubs. Our players aren't deprived of anything when it comes to the management of their injuries. Certainly, personnel wise we are no worse off.

Dude, that is just a hobby for most of us.
I get paid the big bucks for standing outside Cibo with a cup of coffee in my hand, making the place look good.

Any more of these positions available? It would beat trying to encourage recalsitrant 15 Y.O’s into just a small amount of learning.

Re: Lokan sacked
I am actually running courses for anyone interested.
How to Stand Outside Cibo's and Make it Look Good 101.
At a thousand dollars it might seem an expensive course, but I can train even the dimmest, ugliest and most boring of people to appear like an asset worth paying for to any café, merely by standing outside!
Course runs for half an hour. Just deposit the goods in my bank account and you'll never hear from me again.
Sound good?

Re: Lokan sacked
If the Bays went down that path you would have to believe that they are completely out of touch with football. My mail is that they've had a couple of well qualified candidates one of whom is a former reserves coach at the bay with a history in AFL and a Magarey.
