Great compilation of classic ads there. Whenever someone mentions 'fritz' I can't avoid hearing the opening line of that 1988 State Bank ad in my head.
And I can remember that late night dating agency ad with the couple playing golf, along with other 'midnight to dawn' budget ads on Channel Nine. Like the ones for Lin Andrews Real Estate, who was clearly and slowly reading off of a cardboard sign, and those 'live' ads hosted by American Bob Puccetti where he'd 'interview' a used car salesman in a white suit or some-such.

Exactly! Didn't inspire confidence.
IIRC he seemed to struggle to read from word to word. ‘Hi. I’m. Lin. Andrews. from. Lin. Andrews. Real. Estate.’ You could literally see his eyes shift from left to right as read the cardboard auto-cue.

Douglas Adams had a bit to say about existential angst on Sunday afternoons:
In the end, it was the Sunday afternoons he couldn't cope with, and that terrible listlessness that starts to set in about 2:55, when you know you've taken all the baths that you can usefully take that day, that however hard you stare at any given paragraph in the newspaper you will never actually read it, or use the revolutionary new pruning technique it describes, and that as you stare at the clock the hands will move relentlessly on to four o'clock, and you will enter the long dark teatime of the soul.

The drinking rate goes up a notch, I know that...
Snap, it's our prime time for the week, have a few slow ones as the day progresses and by 5 we're up and running, usually a spit roast to slow us down a bit and a reasonably early night.
